Optima Battery Rant

That's why I said he should check his starter.

I agree with others that as long as you don't let your Optima get overly discharged, they last well. If they get run down, they are toast. Always use a battery tender if they are going to sitting.

 

Thanks guys for all your input on this. charging system is all good. Year and a half old Optima was deemed n/g by me and the auto zone guy. The poor little Vega mill has been designated KIA due to other issues. I just wanted to point out that Optima batteries aren't what they used to be, hopefully for the greater good. On to the 231!

 

Got one of the O'reilly AGM's, much cheaper and worked well.
Have heard the Optima's have really gone down hill lately.
