when I was maybe 8, my grand father was still working at the copper factory.
He lived in a house just near the big railway line Paris - Le Mans, lot of trafic...
I was staying at the end of the garden just near the trains, that was terrible.
And :p The railway was connected to the factory to bring copper ingots.
So one day my grand-father took me for a small travel inside the factory in the small factory train !
It is still my giant souvenir of him, he was technical manager.
He had survived to fights in 1917 combats WWI and was not talking too much.
I also remember that in his office there was many pencils and a huge machine to sharpen pencils, he gave me some and I still have one, swiss pencil for drawing, half blue / half red.
    That was around 1954....

I was going to head to the gas station and then take a picture for the photo scavenger hunt thread and the engine died a few seconds after starting. Huh, I tried starting with no luck. Popped a wire off a plug and no spark. I checked the coil and while it had higher resistance it was still good. After more checking the distributor is dead. Guess I'll fool with this in a few weeks, or months, maybe next year.

Frustrating. Teething problems take so long to get through sometimes.

After digging through my junk stash I found the old distributor. Cleaned the points and cap then reinstalled everything. All is right with the world again. Please withhold your points rhetoric. :p

I decided to have a go at lowering my driver seat a bit more. I really didnt want to change the mounting bracket from original so i cut out the bottom of the seat where it mounts and moved it up into the foam probably about 1.25" . It went very well I shouldnt need to slouch anymore. These are from a 80s or 90s dodge work van btw

Not that I actually did anything, but parts are starting to show up. The Vega motor has been officially been condemned, water in the oil, oil on the timing belt etc... On to the 231 swap! I'll keep you posted.

You should start a build thread when you get going on it.

That's the plan, I may need a little help with that as well as I'm not so tech savvy. I do plan on taking lots of pics though. Thanks. I have a loose goal of making it to Oregon to meet some of you guys, but at this point that is a pretty tall order! Will

Did you get the engine hot?
Any chance you ingested water on that muddy adventure or cleanup from said adventure and it hydraulically blew?

My cooling works well and it did run well after the Mud Day. I don't know why it blew - it was just ready to.
Finding a Gasket kit has been a challenge. Checked all the normal Jeep parts sites and they are "out of stock". a call to Walcks finally found one. Its not on their site, but was on the shelf!

A few parts have started to arrive. I shipped the spindles off to be machined this afternoon. My tapered intermediate shaft/bearings won't be here until next month? A few other things should show up next week. My transfer case is starting to sound like a rock crusher.

I finally ordered a fuel injection kit for the 304 on my CJ. I went with the holley sniper, and along with it I ordered an in-tank fuel pump and an MSD electronic distributor that will plug directly into the sniper for full electronic timing control.

I suspect that getting the fuel mapping and timing dialed in is going to really improve my fuel economy and power. I’ll start a thread in the intermediate section once my parts arrive and I actually get started.
