Yes, with just two joints you don't need the carrier bearing. I have two single joints plus a double joint to get around my headers and engine mounts and ended up needing two carrier bearings (1 for each joint above the original 2).

No today, but about a week ago I had a no start issue. I tracked it down to being water in the ECU? So I pulled it out and sent it back to the manufacturer to see if they will cover it under warranty. This is the second FiTech ECU that I have drowned, and this is just from an occasional drive on a rainy day. I will definitely be relocating it to inside the cab from the firewall, and may jump to a Holley computer instead as they are advertised as being waterproof.

Noticed a puddle under my Jeep after 3 weekends of Jeeping/hunting for deer.
Can't believe that the 30+ year old master cylinder has given up the ghost.
They just don't make them like they used to.

FINALLY found the steering column I've been looking for, and FINALLY getting back to working on the Willys pickup. I test fit the column this afternoon and I think its going to work well.

Day before yesterday, I got the emblems put back on and got a 12v/usb outlet put in the dash along with a mount for my phone/nav device. Yesterday I pulled the lift shackles off the front and put new stock shackles back on. Then pulled whatever heavy duty springs they had in the back and installed some Crown standard duty rear leaves. I may replace the front leaves in the near future with new just because.

Took a 30 min jaunt today. Now it doesn't leak... definitely lean looking for fuel. Tools along fine but get on it and there's a slight hesitation. Catches quick but get on it in 4th and it doesn't really get it. Everything is on order to put it back 2bbl. I'm even considering taking it back to single exhaust. Man I'm getting gray...
Still idling almost 300 rpm fast 1100 vs 800. I've checked the timing, plugged all the vacuum ports and been all over it with fogging oil looking for a leak. No changes whatsoever. Hopefully next weekend this pita is gone

So the 3b is good for more than just looks. :) Nothing like dragging a truck with 4 flats up a hill in the rain with an open headered f134 at 2:40 AM. I got to test out the front driveshaft. It didn't twist in half last night so that's good.

I have to say when a 2-jet Rochester is running right it's a great Jeep carburetor. Works good uphill, downhill, and sidehill. You can also lug down to 300 rpm without killing the engine.

I ordered everything from Mike's carburetor parts. First 2GC I've ever rebuilt, carb looks good for sitting 30 years. Only thing I'm flummoxed about is it has #60 jets in it. I can't find the 231 OF in the jetting list. 225 had 51's but that was the smaller bolt pattern carb can't be sure the venturi's / cfm are the same. Skimming it looks like all the small displacement apps got jets in the low 50's. I guessed and ordered 52's  They probably don't cross but the Holley is running lean on 51's

I'm pretty sure my 231 OF has 52s, but I'd have to pull the top off the carb to check.

I know the 47s everyone else was using worked well for me at altitude in CO over the summer.

Installed new Dorman radiator overflow bottle, along with some KC Cyclone engine bay lights. Next up, install gas tank and seats, then on to getting engine running.

For the first time in months, the Willys has 4 wheels! Installed the new Alcan springs and the 8.8 rear axle today.

For Thanksgiving we took the CJ out for the Havasu Landing Poker Run held on Chemehuevi Indian land. Lots of trails to explore out there, which we did on Friday. Then on Saturday we stuck to the poker run trails. Lots of fun, we've been coming here for years. Keep finding new trails. The Jeep purred right along all weekend. Couldn't keep up with my buddy in his 4 seat ecotec buggy but we did all right. We were one of the oldest vehicles on the trails for the Poker run. Outnumbered 100/1 with Razr's and Can Am's blowing past us left and right. That's alright, we got a better view of the landscape at our pace.

The trails include soft sand, rocky areas, loose dirt, and gravel. We put it in 4lo a few times for some steep hills we had to go slow up due to large divots that would bounce us in the air. Those buggy's create a lot of divots trying to hot dog it. But most of the time we were in 2hi. Probably could have made the whole trail in 2hi but I like shifting those twin sticks too much. Plus Lady Shadetree thinks I'm doing something special when I do.:hellokitty:

Did a little damage to the jerry can backing up. Where'd that tree come from I backed into, this is the desert, we ain't got no stinkin' trees. :n::censored::banghead: You can't see her in any of these pictures, but our Dobie was in the back seat lying down the whole way.

They may have got here first, but we looked cooler doing it than any of those cookie cutter side by sides.

Coming home I ordered amber LED trail lights for front and rear to make myself more visible in the dust. Several vehicles had them this year and they made a big difference. The buggy and I were the tortoise and the hare most of the time. But when we did get close I could rarely see him for the dust.

Beautiful weather. Lady Shadetree and I had a good time hanging out with our good friends.
