Galvanized Floor Pans

    Hey everyone,

    How common are galvanized floor pans for our jeeps?

    It was overhauled somewhere over seas about 25 yrs ago & I'm 99% sure my front floor pans are galvanized.

    I'd say probably not very. For one thing, you can't weld on them without toxic fumes. It would be nice to have a bit of rustproofing in our old jeeps though.

    Yeah the welding is an issue with galvanized steel. Apparently your PO (previous owner) knew how to deal with it or was not aware. Pretty sure the modern cars with galvanized bodies are assembled completely from plain steel, then galvanized whole in a big vat at the factory.
