I bought a new release cable for 76 cj5 I know it is different but I think I am missing the mounting bracket for the TEE handle 8.180-13 and do not know where the cable end lead ball attaches. I will pull the assembly out but the question is where the bracket for 8.180-3 supposed to mount and is the part still produced? thank you a picture could be worth a 1000 words.

No, very few parts are available for these Jeeps except things that would be considered "service parts." Something like that bracket does not wear out normally, so it will only be available from a wreck or part-out Jeep.

The attachment for the cable end will be obvious when you look more closely at the pedal assembly.

The parts book shows that the release assembly changes for 1976, using a rod instead of a cable. Which part did you buy?

Glad I could help. Can you show the page where you found it?

I tried to get a side shot, but my under dash is so cluttered. But this is how mine attaches to the dash, or brace welded just behind the dash.

    If it helps......

I don't know how the far the release is supposed to extend from the dash. But it looks like there is enough room to straighten out the cable by just turning the mount 180* on the bottom of the dash.
