I live in New England’s Salt belt and restorable tubs are not to be found. I am thinking about a replacement tub for my 74 Renegade. Has anyone ever deleted the tailgate and replaced it with a Classic Ent. Rear panel? I want it to look as original as possible.

Alternative, buy an m38a1 tub and delete the passenger side indent.

Seems easy enough either way. I personally like tailgate and the ability to access the rear of the jeep.

More work than that. The floor boards are different for the pedals, heater, cowl, etc.

I've got a couple of friends that have use their tubs. Some fitment issues and lot of body massaging but overall they were satisfied with the replacement

Thanks for the replies, I almost talked myself into the tailgate. There is a homemade tailgate opening now, body has been plated by the PO numerous times. Could there have been a tailgate option on a 74 renegade? I know later years it could be that way.

Nope, no tailgate available with the Renegade package. Not in '74. Later years I would have guessed not as well, but I don't know for sure.

not in 78 either, that was the reason I didn't get the Renegade package. I bought each add-on separately.

I got my tub from willys overland. The guy was great to deal with and the tub fit right on and everything lined up. It was a no hassle great fit.

If you don't mind me asking what was the total cost of the repli-tub? I'm considering one of those.

I git lucky because he had one there that someone had purchased, drilled a few holes in it for the top and seats, and then decided to give it back, obviously he didn't get a full refund but it was great for me because it didn't effect me and it was cheap. I believe I paid about $1200 us for it, I believe it sells for about $2600 us normally. Best thing to do is give him a call, he is a great guy.
