Welp, I received my new radiator yesterday. Today I put it in. All I can say is it really sux being old. I unbolted the grill but I screwed myself when I installed a winch and fabbed my own mount. I covered up the bottom center mount bolt. Otherwise I woulda had the grill mostly out where I could get to it to remount the new radiator and the old shroud. So things are going along swimmingly and .... I drop one of the radiator/shroud mount bolts.. It vanishes. Still haven't found it. So I get the bright idea to drop another on purpose and see where it goes. 35 minutes later I finally find bolt #2. Bolt #1 is still AWOL. Down to Ace HW for a new bolt. Of course this is an OEM ultra coarse thread affair and they have nothing that matches. I do find a similar body bolt and body nut. Back home .. Now I have one bolt that won't line up. It seems that several years ago I ran a limb into the shroud breaking it. Rather than replace it I fixed it with a massive amount of fiberglass and now the hole/slot [what slot?] aint in the correct place.. . Shoe horned a drill in there and wobbled the hole.. Next episode I take on radiator hoses..

So to the guy who posted a few days ago about all his trouble. This Bud's fer you!

That's about how all my projects go. Eventually they get done though.

Sounds like a normal day for me. Lost a small bolt, never did find it. 3 DAYS LATER, it turned up lodged in my lug sole boot :bananatool:.

I sometimes have to remind myself that it’s a hobby. I do it for fun. Then I slow down and try to enjoy the whole thing. Except for pinching my arm skin under the creaper. I never enjoy that.

Back when I still had hair:(. I had long hair and got it wound up in the creeper wheel, had to call my wife to bring the scissors and release me! :(

Ha, I dropped a bolt putting the fan and fan clutch on. Couldn't find it.. Got another. Then I happened to shine a light in looking to see if I left anything off the water pump and.. There it was! In the inside of the crank pulley. Just sittin there.

I can tell you guys all about creepers. Don't use em in my garage. Ya see who ever built this garage didn't properly tamp along the house side. So the concrete sagged. I can't keep a creeper under there, just slides right out. No hair was in danger of getting in the wheels either.

I have sometimes to use my grand-father's Tap & Die set. It is 100 years old, with various old sizes... It take sometimes hours to re-fabricate a nut or a bolt... The advantage of being retired!

All of those simple jobs take longer due to Unforeseen Circumstances.

I always say, "It took forever for a simple job, but it went better than expected."
My wife says, "You should expect that."

I now expect problems, then I'm not disappointed. I also schedule more time since something always comes up.

When I do a tune-up, I replace on part at a time, and start it. Ever since I spent hours chasing down a bad condenser, and no need to mention the time the Jeep wouldn't start and after troubleshooting, I see the ground wire for the points still on the old set of points.

The finished job is all that matters at this point.

    Hang in there.

My main progress is to end things with success. When I decide a project, the idea is to make it with success.
That's what my wife is saying : "when you do something, you do it really". That is satisfactory.
Of course some people cannot get such satisfaction...
