Every time you post about towing the camper I get all giddy inside. My buddy was just talking last night about the possibility of beach camping with his new camper at Portsmouth island NC.

Portsmouth island, fyi, is an unpopulated barrier island off the coast of nc, there are no amenities and the only buildings on the island are for the few rangers that stay there. Awesome fishing, terrible bugs. Great times.

Do you need a permit or pass or something to go out on the island? It sounds like something we would like to see.

Im not always a JB weld fan, but that job seems tailor made. Or, build it up with braze and file it flat, and shape the inside with a die grinder.

It's a private ferry to get there, and a small one at that. I think the cost is $5 per vehicle(maybe more if you bring the camper).

The sand is pretty soft, so bringing a camper seems fairly risky. However, there's a Portsmouth island Facebook group where people were discussing the topic recently.

If you go, post lots of pics here!

I need to take more pictures of the stuff I do. Let me check with the wife and see what she has. There wasn't anything remotely exciting, just camping. It is like lifting. If I hit a new PR, I send a text to my son if he isn't with me. He records his. Lol

Futzed with the Holley...changed primary jets to 54, power valve to 65. Had the vacuum gauge out and trimmed up mixture. Seemed to be running better but while revving it up I noticed the secondarys dripping. When I shut it off fuel dripping from secondary butterfly shaft. Pulled the sight plug and got a stream of fuel. Sigh futzed with it no change. Pulled the secondary bowl and metering plate. Blew it all out with cleaner ( there was some junk ) reassembled. Pulled the coil wire and ran the starter to fill the bowls, adjusted to the bottom of threads. Dark now, time to drink I'll fire it tomorrow.

A member of the local AMC club has told me that didn't work for him in the water pump area. A year later and the JB weld was washed out and gone. I have a line on a decent timing cover in a nearby town. I am trying to get out there and get it saturday. I put a new cloyes oem replacement timing set in last night. It too seems to have some slop but not as much as the Edelbrock. The engine is stock and had never been machined on. I know this can be a issue with line bored engines but that isn't the case here. If the other timing cover doesn't work out one of the young guys at a tuner shop said he could weld it for me. I'm sure he could. I have seen his welding work. He does a damn fine job. Hopefully the one I get saturday works out.

Trans and clutch out. Going to have to replace the starter ring gear. Have a large parts order coming in so about to transition from the tear down phase to the build up phase.

More and more it looks like Holley and I are going to break up.....

I'm just not in to this constantly upkeep, hair brushing, hand holding, sweet talk, etc

This girl has bummed money from me twice and is playing hard to get.

Holley and I took a break. Reluctantly I agreed to online counseling. I "actively" listened to her needs. Thought we were making progress things seemed better at home but we tried to go out and she pulled the same tricks. Counselor says she needs a different bauble to be happy. Also I should buy a kit so if she doesn't like one she can choose another. I just don't feel like continuing, spending a quarter more of what she cost to gamble on her cooperating. I don't like lip service....
