Was jumping a truck tonight with Willie and when I shut the hood the snorkel hole cover plate fell on the ground. Obviously bolts worked their way loose at some point. If I can’t find them in the morning, anyone know the original size?

Same thing happened to me 10+ years ago I used a pop rivet on the rear and I'm pretty sure a 1/4-20 on the forward hole. If you don't need it I would pop rivet both and make sure they swelled enough to not pull thru.

Mine are spot welded as in when manufactured. Someone must have removed yours at some point in time before you bought it? I would imagine 1/4" would be the size, maybe 5/16"?

The earlier ones were bolted on like on my ‘56 and the later ones were spot welded in place. You should be able to bolt it back in place.

Mine was clearly bolted. No sign of spot weld.

On my CJ6 I bolted one end, put a keyed latch on the other, and put my OBA connection right behind it.

Do the hoods without the spot weld have a welded or captured nut and just need the bolt?

Stock OEM 1956 = 1/4" coarse thread washer-head stove-bolts, with standard square nuts on top.
