Hi..... knowledgeable Early Jeep Friends... I need to know what Brand of after market, 15" or 16" wheels (rims) that are made of steel that will off set my tires about 1" to 2" further out (or away) from my Frame.....
of course they need to have that 4" center hole for my manual Warn hubs to fit through and the 5 X 5.5" lug pattern. ANY HELP directing me to a manufacturer of a steel, early jeep rims that provides a wider (1"-2") tire stance...... Thanks, Sunny sunnybabaspirit@yahoo.com

    How about some spacers instead?

There are wheels available with less backspacing. Try search on he Summit or Jegs sites, and look for otherwise suitable wheels with a 1.5" or 2" or 2.5" backspacing.

Thanks, for the suggestions .... I think, I will simply go with 1.5" spacers..... that is the least expensive... and simplest solution..... do spacers cause a lot of stress on wheel bearings and axles...??

You know, that's a good question.

I know for a fact that the Spidertrax spacers are a VERY heavy duty product, having known some hardcore wheelers down here in Socal who beat on jeeps with D44's, with 37-39" sticky tires with no issues.

As for the wheel bearings and axles, I would say that since you're duplicating the width of a wagon-style wheel, that if you're conservative and normal in your driving style, you'll probably have no issues. (just like the other folks on here that run 15x8/15x8 wheels with a similar offset.

the further your wheels stick out the more load on the bearings. IMHO Same with larger tires

Yes, especially the outer bearings. But a wheel with a bunch of offset does the same thing.

You're also increasing your steering scrub radius making it harder to steer at low speeds and more likely to jerk the steering wheel out of your hands when climbing through obstacles. Power steering minimizes these effects. It's all relative. It's not like Jeeps have zero scrub radius from the factory.

Lots of members here run spacers without any drastic issues.

F8C61F41-2114-448B-B4A9-D04C4C9EE5EC.jpeg Spacers are probably the way to go. Wheels with a 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern and a 4.25” center hole are very hard to come by. And the few that are available have very limited width and backspacing options.

One of the few options I found was the wheel vintiques 41 and 43 series. But again, options are extremely limited.
