The weekend was productive. I've been working on some semblance of this deal since about the end of October and it finally happened this weekend. I originally set out to purchase just the rolling wide track chassis, but it changed into a "you gotta buy it all or nothing" deal late last week. Right about 500 miles of windshield time in a 51 year old truck on 37's towing a trailer both loaded and unloaded. At the end of the day I added a truck and a half to the FC Jeep collection. A wide track chassis, a rust free but beat up cab, and a complete truck. The chassis needs a little repair work and the brakes were frozen, the cab is rust free but it looks like someone played kickball with an excavator with it, and the guy cut the back out of the cab to use on another one he's building, and the truck has some fairly significant rust and a hack job V6 added... Lots of good stuff tho too! Old Ford did good but wasn't flawless. Had to change out a U-joint alongside I-90 on the last trip that added about 45 minutes. Luckily the slip yoke on the front shaft is exactly the same as the rear, so I was able to pull both shafts, swap some parts around and keep going. Don't need 4wd for highway towing in the summer!

Here's the other two along with the cab and chassis I just picked up. Orange one needs a bath pretty bad.

I've got plans for that one that include lockers and disc brakes one of these days too. Got most of the parts already, just short on time as always to make things happen. And 38's to replace the current tires. I bought that truck right after I graduated high school....in 96. It's been my daily driver since January.

Well.... The complete truck will run. I'm pretty sure its got an odd fire 231 in it from what I've been able to gather. Got a new fuel pump sitting at home for it now and hoping the carb rebuild kit comes this week also. It may be waiting for me when I get home. The little that I have run it has me concerned that it's mixing fluids, but we'll see what happens when I can run it for more than a minute at a time.

What is the story on that Barden looking bumper on the bare frame? The one Injust picked up in Idaho has the same type of Bumper, but it is welded to the frame.

Couldn't tell ya. I picked this one up in Yakima, WA, so it could be a regional thing. I definitely dig the bumper and will probably re-use it when I get to building. The Orange body should end up on the wide track chassis once I get the chassis and drivetrain sorted out.

Used to go by a house in Garner, NC and he had 3 FC's in his yard. Always thought, "Man, are those cool!" Always planned to go by and talk to him
(Counting Cars style), but never got around to it.

They have since gone away, but I still think they are really cool. Don't see many of them anymore. Glad you are saving the history.

Hope the builds go well. This could be an interesting thread to watch, keep us informed.

I've spent a little more time getting the brown truck cleaned up and running. I initially thought that maybe there was a pressure problem with the engine, but a new radiator cap is holding coolant in at operating temp, and there's no mixing of fluids going on. It runs pretty well and I'm fairly certain it is one of the odd fire 231 V6's. Definitely odd fire, and a few clues like paint, HEI, EGR and some other parts lead me to believe I have the displacement correct also. Moving on to brakes this weekend hopefully. Will get the master cylinder pulled and see if I can free it up and do something with it. If not, will order parts next week.
