My window frame has been taking a beating lately. I nailed the passenger side this weekend. Drivers side on the flop the time before. Minimal damage, nothing that couldn't buff out.

I've been thinking. Maybe some sort of brace from the full roll cage the the corner of the window frame. Thoughts?

Some of my ideas. Something that the frame can rest against. I want the fold the window sometime. Also something that bolts on, not welded. I also need to be able to use the bar for the Soft Top, the one that fits into the frame.

Something like a YJ has? Maybe weld something to the front of the cage that backs against the windshield corners?

How about using some convertible top latches used in cars to allow for quick release? Make sure your cage doesn’t move independent of the windshield when severely crossed up though. That could be ugly.

When I put 4 off-road lights on my windshield it shook fore and aft from the extra weight. I made two tabs from the front cage to the windshield. Drilled and tapped the roll bar and put 1/4-20 nutserts in the windshield frame. Screwed bolts into them. Windshield doesn’t move now.

Be careful mounting the windshield solid to the cage. I had a Scout 800B and had a CB mount between the cage and windshield. I used big rivets to hold it on. With the movement between the two it was a fail. On my CJ the cage moves independently from the windshield.

I would always fold mine down when wheeling if it wasn't cold outside. Doesn't really provide the solution you're looking for though I guess. How about some type of rubber snubber mounted to the cage? Nothing more to unlatch if you want to fold it down and not a solid mount like Tom warns about using.

I would start with adjusting the retaining latches, followed by a new rubber weatherstrip, and lastly using a shim.

Not even close to the problem I have. My biggest, is avoiding trees.

This was a worst case impact. I have since repaired this. I know nothing will help with this. I just wanted something like the Wrangler Roll bar attach points.

You can also see my cage is mounted to the dash.

Here's what I came up with. At the bottom of the bracket, down by the door channel. There is a 3/8' pin that insert's into a hole in the window frame. There is one on both sides.

FYI. This is the some bent window frame as previously pictured.

I see my new phone takes much better pictures.

Great photo showing an M38a1 windshield frame with the unique heavily arched soft top channel.
