Pawing through the shattered remains of a 4cyl. cj6 I found a little trinket that looks like a carb base gasket but real thick, but it has a little V shaped piece of tin that is shaped in a manner that would cause the intake mix to "swirl" a little. Thought it was a J. C. Whitney 6% fuel saver, you know, the kind that if you purchased all of the related items you would save so much fuel that you have to stop and let some out of the tank occasionally. Later I was raking up a cj2 and 3 debris field and found the exact same part. My manual is out on loan, was this a factory part?

Would you be able to post a picture. I seem to remember the J.C. Whitney ads for the same thing. Maybe a fuel saving device that was featured during the gas line era?

I had a similar fuel diffuser on the L-134s on my 3A and M38. I believe there were factory but are not necessary if you don’t have one. My’56 CJ5 with F-134 does not have one.
