Parts book should show the tire hold-down that was anchored by those two screws in the middle of the floor. I would expect a non-fancy threaded steel rod and a nut made for hand-tightening. Maybe a disk with a hole in it.

Just a thought. Shouldn't this thread be moved to the Jeepster Commando and Commando Tech thread? Won't it disappear after a certain amount of time if left here? It has good info worth saving. If I'm wrong about this disappearing please disregard.

Yes, off-topic posts expire after some length of time inactive. As long as someone is posting in them, they will persist.

Doug - would rather move it into a build thread, or move it to jeepster forum....Let us know and we can move it....

Correct, on the 67 I used to drive, no indent, just a threaded L-shaped rod that went up the middle of the wheel, top plate and wing nut kept it secure. Used to store the tire chains under it.

Jeepster forum. It'll be a long time before this progresses to a build thread. Gotta get the Willys pickup running first!

Seeing the parts book illustration, the upper and right diagrams explain a lot. I always wondered how Kaiser hung a spare tire on the Jeepster's tailgate and not had the gate bend from the weight, let alone how you opened the gate. Now I see the gate was non-functioning.
My brother had a bullnose Commando that had the spare tire mounted vertically above/behind the right wheel tub in the cab, like a Willys Wagon, but his had a hardtop. I guess the sloping fastback convertible top wouldn't fit over a tire sticking up above the side rail.

Looks to me that the air compressor in your pics is a series 210 York.

Doug, your purchase just keeps getting better, those factory documents are a bonus score!
I would really like to see what Jeep approved accessories and special equipment are listed in that particular brochure, any chance you post pictures of the pages?

One of my old parts Commandos had those "involute" helper springs on a mono-leaf setup. I always figured they were some JC Whitney bolt-on gimmick. Here they are in the accessory and special equipment catalog!
