Very similar. Mine might be the same model but a bit older edition - but still works like new.

I like how sleek it is - some of the modern designs look like they are puffed up on steroids, for no reason.

    Big, though, to schlepp around.

Only time I wish for a 12 inch is to do rough sawn timbers over 4" thick.

yeah, if thats a concern of yours, a 12" saw may be too big. i dont really carry it around at all and do all my work at my house, so its stationary. worst case, i carry it from my shed to my house garage or back porch.

I move mine from job to job, even room to room, all the time. It's all I care to handle.

I've noticed too that it has gotten a lot heavier since I bought it, when I was younger.

The base on my old Craftsman 10" miter saw is cast iron and it's gotten a lot heavier in the 20 years I've owned it. I dread having to move it to a new location.

Personally, I stay away from 12” saws because of the blade deflection. It’s really hard to get a precise, smooth cut with a blade bigger than 10”.

I have a Forest Chopmaster on my 12” DeWalt. Ended my deflection problem.

Table saw, it takes less than a careless second to wish you were using one of these.
    SawStop 10'' Jobsite Saw PRO
Expensive but SAFE. How much are your fingers worth to you? Table saws bite viciously, likely the most dangerous tool on the job site.
As for the Miter saw, I have owned 7 miter saws and used countless others but there is not enough time to get into manufacturers and models.. Sliding dual compound miter saws have a large cutting capacity and are great tools for all around work. Siding, exterior trim, interior trim, closet shelves, crown moulding, and most carpentry needs. But I have found they are not the most accurate, take up too much space, and are hard to move around, most have short fences, but they do have their purpose. My favorite miter saw is The Dewalt DWS716 DeWalt DWS716 15-Amp 12 very very accurate, not as strenuous to move around, does not take up too much space, and not overly expensive for what you receive. Put a forrest chopmaster or a CMT blade on it after you wear out the original blade and you will not be dissapointed, but if you do not buy the expensive one at least stay with a Dewalt blade. Tall fences are the key to a quick and accurate cut. Stand up the base moulding and cut the crown moulding nested, less chance of deflection in the blade. Cutting crown moulding laying down is very very time consuming and hard to get a proper cut at any angle which is not an exact 90 degree angle. I could go on for hours on this subject but must stop here.

Heat warpage, yes, but the deflection I’m referring to is just side-load deflection. The bigger the blade, the more prevalent it can be. Sort of like death wobble in a Jeep. Go in for a skim cut, and the side-load will push the blade out-of-square, and it will start waffling.

I thought these were just a gimmick when they first came out, but after a good deal of time behind one, I can attest they’re the real deal. A very well made machine. The size/quality of the trunnion bearings are what make or break a table saw, and the ones on a SawStop saw are massive. The safety mechanism on this particular saw I used had been triggered three previous times, and even after such violent stops, it still cut flawlessly.

    looks like my setup:D
I've got my old boss's 10" craftsman table saw. 240v. cuts good and is big. would love to get a more precise miter fence someday for it. My dewalt 12" miter saw sits on it most of the time. No slider, just tilt to one side. I have noticed ocasionall deflection, but not much if you go slow. Can't remember what blad I have on it.

If you can still count to 10 you're doing it right.

I used my table saw more than I ever expected. Mine is just a harbor freight one, but its served me well through a number of projects.

Now one of the sliding miter saws might get dropped into the budget for my upcoming bathroom remodel. I've wanted one of those for 10 years, but I just keep telling myself that I've already got a miter saw.

Tim, if you are buying a miter, do yourself a favor and get the sliding miter. A regular 10" non slider won't reliably cut all the way through a 2x8. Only reasons I can think of to skip the sliding miter would be that you have to carry it around a lot, or you only use it for trim and work less than 6" wide.

Yes, get a slider. A 10" saw will handle 12" wide stock.
