I am mounting a PTO onto the back of my Warn overdrive on my 1961 CJ5. I bought the adapter plate from Herm and need to know if there is anything special needed to make PTO work after mounting? Once mounted, what is the proper way to engage PTO.

Other than chopping a new hole in the floor for the shifter it works as per normal.

I'd love to see you document the install... I've wanted to do this for years.

The adapter replaces the back cap of the Warn OD. It makes the mounting bolts a pita to get to but other than that its pretty straightforward. You need a longer PTO shaft.
Operating it is the same as without the OD.

After installing adapter plate and bolting pto up to the rear of overdrive, the drive shaft was shortened to the rear gear box. When shifting lever it does not seem to engage gear on back of overdrive. Am I missing something?

IMG_0295.jpg IMG_0370.jpg I'm going to feel real stupid if I left that out, Its got oil and installed. Guess its time to pull driveline , PTO and check, plus drain hole in bottom of adapter plate is got a small leak. Need to reseal threads as well. I could have sworn the rear cog was on when bolting it together. Plus temporary body is on and harder to get to.

No need to pull everything, unscrew the shifter from the top, unbolt the tranny x-member & drop it down a little on a jack- the bolts holding the pto on will be easy to get at from underneath.
