I picked up my freshly build engine today! Bored .030 over, with a comp rv cam, double roller timing set, and new TA performance cover. I'm super excited to burn in some engine mounts and get it running!

Hahaha you know it! While the fire was hot, I had the machine shop throw the cost of clutch resurfacing into the bill and bought a couple more cans of engine enamel:beer:

Replaced a shattered windshield on the '67 CJ5. Got the replacement glass & rubber locking seal from Walck's, along with a side mirror. Very pleased with the products.

I'm experimenting with a 9/16" spacer (white strip in second photo) to change the windshield angle to increase visibility at the top--so as to not "look thru" the wiper motor. With the spacer the windshield still angles back and there's a very noticeable gain in upper visibility for a 6' driver.

Started up the '71, pulled out of the garage and went for a short jaunt around the block for it's first movement after winter hibernation.

Good idea! I took the alternative tack and braced my windshield off of my roll cage directly above the rear view mirror. I'd love to hear how the spacer works out!

No top. Insure & drive it May-October. Either fair weather or I get wet. It really doesn't raise the glass much with spacer. The gain is the spacer moves the windshield farther forward--which gets the top-mount wiper out of your face and allows a much improved view. Time will tell if it's a good move! You can get the idea by putting your hand at baseball-cap bill's distance than seeing the change in the view as you move your hand to arms-length out front.

I have wanted to add water to the M416 camping trailer. Every time I looked for a tank they were either the wrong sizes or cost too much. But I finally found a 10 Gal tank for $32 on ebay. So today I took some flat steel I had, .............. to go buy  and made some mounting straps. Just need a few quick welds and it's ready to install.

But that means I need to unload the trailer, and that leads into another decision. The floor has a few holes near the tailgate. The rest is in good shape. Do I just patch it for now? Or before I got rid on the 90 Suburban I cut the roof out, intending to be used as a new floor for the trailer. But with all the work being done on the Jeep do I really want to start the trailer too?

Loaded up the wife and the dogs and went for a Saturday drive through the farmland. The wheat is really filling in fast righ now. A good mix of sun and rain.

If I decide to replace the floor I'll start a project thread.
I have already replaced the axle with a 3500 lb one with electric brakes and a parking brake. I've added rear stabilizer legs and a 2" receiver for a cargo carrier. and added LED tail lights. I have 2 series 4 batteries installed up front, for the two solar panels I deploy at my camp site, and a diesel heater for when the tent gets setup on top of everything, in case it gets cold. I just added three 12 Volt outlets on the trailer for accessories. And added 4 gas cans, one on each corner.

Painted my fenders, left them on the saw horses in the garage over night to dry. Put the puppy in his kennel (also in the garage) and the little bugger slipped his kennel and I woke up to my fenders dented and scratched lying on the floor of the garage. :banghead:

If it pleases the jury, I submit evidence of the crime and the suspect . . .

Tweeking in progress to repair the damage.
