What's the difference size wise / PNs between tapered & flanged axle carrier bearings?

I feel like TlmE and I went through this a while back when i did the locker install...I might be able to find some of the info, or hopefully he can chime in? My gut feeling is that they are the same?

timken carrier bearing and race part numbers for my flanged 44 is 25590 and 25523, respectively. not sure about a tapered 44, but i imagine it is the same.

They are NOT the same. 30 spline requires a different bearing than 10/19 spline axles.

Like 47v6 says.... I swear I had heard the larger 30 spline flanged axles require a bearing with a larger ID, but use the same outer race.

My problem is I want to (finally!) install my e-locker but the cones I bought don't fit , I'm thinking they need to be the later pieces, with a pn I can look up the specs to see if they'll fit.

so i have a spare carrier from a 30 spline flanged 44. i just measured the diameter where the bearing presses on and it is 1.800". the timken bearing part number i gave above (25590) has an ID of 1.796" resulting in a press fit. the race as i mentioned is part number 25523.

as i said, i can't confirm what a tapered 10 or 19 spine 44 uses. but a quick search tells me it takes a 25577 bearing (ID of 1.688") and the same 25523 race.

so the "cones" or "races" should be the same between both axles. it's the bearing ID that is different. what part number cones do you have?

edit to my terminology above - i was thinking "cup" when saying "cone". i just always use "bearing" and "race". anyway, the bearings (cones) are in fact different, the races (cups) are the same.
