I have a "family" roll bar I added years back. I ended up finding a local upholstery shop that extended the bikini top to cover the back.

I bought the SuerTop first then had a roll bar made to make sure it fit under it. I do kind of like this look:

The M38-A1 summer top is listed on eBay at $375 ( item #1926 1063 3991). I just posted this to another post "Where can I buy..."

See my post above, the Supertop without doors, side, or rear windows is essentially a full length bikini top.

I do not have a Roll Bar in my Jeep, so my Super Top covers the whole interior.[IMG]

Beachwood canvas sells canvas tops for all jeeps. Here's mine I purchased about five years ago and upgraded the rear curtain to have the large open rear opening, they also make "summer" tops with no rear curtain, I paid around $430 but they are a quality canvas product that will last for years. A new supertop is close to 1K in price I think. They do come with top framework, canvas covers do not they are extra.
I would call Beachwood about what your wanting and see what options you'll have

    Here's a p/n D2308 for their trail run top for M38a1 $395

I had a top bow bent up that clamps to the rear of the roll cage. Local canvas shop extended a bestop bikini top out 18".

Here is how it looks. I wanted the back to waterfall a little bit to shade in the afternoon.

Very cool, thanks for the ideas guys. Much like TomTom’s setup, i’m planning on my cage being the support for my softtop. I could actually scoot it back a few more inches from where it is now to get the right fit:

the front part of the cage will be built with this in mind, too.

Dumb question, I know, but did you guys bolt those cages to the frame or just the sheet metal?

Not a dumb question at all. I think there is more than one "right way" for most folks when it comes to roll cages.

Mine is just bolted to sheetmetal with thick metal plate backing so that the load is spread out along to more of the fenderwell. I'll be adding a front tube near the windshield and that one might tie into rocksliders. I'm of the opinion that these frames should be allowed to flex a bit, otherwise they end up tearing/cracking, unless you box and reinforce the whole frame to ensure it's rigid. YMMV.

Bolted to the sheet metal same as above. Large 1/4" steel plates on the back side. This is for the tubes that go down through the floor.

You might also try OD Cloth/WeeBee webbing for original style military tops. They do great work and are competitively priced. Had a full enclosure for my M38 as well as front seat covers several years ago and couldn't have been happier. WEEBEE WEBBING Products Page

Also, my daughter and I made this extended top last summer. Using the original channel on the windshield, the roll bar and some old supports from a "modern" top that I cut and put in the rear corner top bow brackets.

Jpet owner of "Bambam" in the flatty world has opened a jeep top business. He has made quite a few original style canvas tops for many CJ2As, 3As and I bet he can sew up a summertop for you round fender guys- meaning no disrespect of course

Yup, i already hit him up and its a fairly healthy(yet fair/competitive) price, on par with weebee’s top without the side curtains.

I absolutely believe that Jpet and Weebee put out honest, awesome work but when i add weebee’s price to the cost of getting top bow hardware its the same as a Bestop Supertop. (Yikes!!)

Jpets pricing includes taking into account using my roll cage as supports so there is a cost savings there, for my case.

My roll cage came from a 4wd hardware kit sometime around the mid-nineties. Its tied into the frame in 6 places. The rear section has supports that tie from the frame in front of and behind the rear tire, and attach to a 1/4" thick plate under the roll bar.

The front hoop has triangle shaped supports that run from the frame to the hoop bases. The whole thing is pretty stout, but knowing what I know now I'd probably add a few things, and I'd move the overhead tube more outboard so I would stop whacking my head.

I haven't digitized my jeep photos so it's a picture of a picture, but you should get the idea. Screenshot_20200324-190244_Gallery.jpg Screenshot_20200324-190505_Gallery.jpg Screenshot_20200324-190524_Gallery.jpg
