Thank you;) I did use the original access panel on the cowl for the battery. I mounted a battery tray under the dash as in the picture. Some would bock at the idea, but it works and that's what I'm going to do in my jeep. To get to the battery does require removing the glove box by the philips screws, but's no biggy. The picture was in its rough design. I incorporated a cut-off switch right by it so my brother could disable the vehicle so it couldn't be started. It's pretty cool actually. Ok, got to go, getting up early to leave on our little trip;)
Thank you and all my routy friends!!

Hi ya'll! I'm back, or we're back! omg, driving really is not my forte! I won't go into detail, but it is so nice to be home, took a hot bath, and I feel soooooo much better! I'll be ordering the springs tomorrow and put'em on the shelf. Thank you Chuck for verifying;)

Sooo, in the meantime I have to think about paint now~ on my brothers jeep, he let me decide on what color and that's hard, especially when it's someone elses jeep/car! So I just start googling pictures and see what I can do. I don't have a great imagination, so google and search engines are my friend;) The reason I need to consider paint now is that the frame should be prepped sometime this or next week(rain is in the forecast for several days), so rather than a black frame, I'd like to compliment the body color to the frame~ though black is still on the burner of thought(it's an easy path), but I'm not into "doing because it's easy, I'm doing it because it's hard!"

However, this is a first of a few pics, if you come up with something unique, not crazy unique(dragons, pics of Iron man, etc), doable comes to mind. another HOwever, I like a metallic green on some of the newer model jeeps, not a matte this time, high gloss maybe. Ok I've had it and need to sit on the sofa for a while~ nice to be back!!!:bananatool: darn, that paint looks to be a matte finish:susp:

The '62 is going to be done with a " Pre '52 Oliver Tractor Green" single with a clear coat over it... My niece wanted it 'Green' and I found the paint. I use tractor paint on most all my riggs. *******'s across the street he picked Alice Chalmer Orange for it.

Well, got to thinkin~ how things are going to fit together without stuff; so I put the body back on the frame, put the fender on, you know they go on/off very quickly.

The bumper extension that I put on are a little longer than stock, and may go ahead a look at bumpers to see about how I'd mount one, so I need to look at bumpers.

    Also need to think about headers~ so pulled the front grill back off to temporarily put the V6 in;

such a cute engine;) The battery will be behind the glove box like I did on my brothers jeep~ really want to show off the engine;)

the passenger side looks like no problem whatsoever!

I need to figure in a steering column, the one that was in it is no good
    [IMG]

putting stuff back in to "visualize" , I'm glad the speaker and radio holes are too bad to fix. The holes on the far left~ I can put gauges in somehow.

I'm going to leave it like this until I get headers/ steering column, sure wanted to blast the frame, but no worry/no hurry;)

    * I'm figuring to re-use the stock clutch pedal and brake pedal(for now), but put in a different dual master cylinder and there will be a remote brake fluid fill. I saw an aluminum one on this forum~ I'll look into that.

    * So, I looked at some hugger type headers vs fender well, but the long tubes might look pretty neat:sneak:~ just hate the idea of cutting my fenders; have no idea where I put that link to those darned things:( I really need the headers now so I can figure in the steering column and need a steering column:crazy:.

I have to cook, so I'll be back in a little while.

I have the old set I took off my 69, they are pretty much shot, but you can have them, to do a mock up to see if you want to go that route.

Thanks Jason;) However, I think I'll probably just 'go for it' on the hugger headers~ about the only headers which are not fender well type. You know, it's just hit the "buy it now" button syndrome, and want it to be right for what I want;)

The Novak Headers are the ones I helped design several years ago with Eric at Novak. I know a couple folks here have used them (one got two of the same side, but that's been fixed now I believe) and I've used them and the AA setups. I'm currently looking at where I want to go with the '62 build as well.

Steering Column - Summit has some nice tilt ones I use most of the time. You can also get some nice stock looking ones from Speedway that I used when I did the Manual Saginaw on Jim's 3B.

Well Jeff, we do not want leaky headers:madwife: NO LEAKY HEADERS

Ok Chuck, just bought the Novak headers and their gasket set~ I told Gary, expect some purchases:shock: Pretty cool that you helped in the design:bow:

I can put off the leaf springs, I know where they are, so now for a steering column, I'll check out what you said Chuck(y) you wouldn't happen to have a picture of the tilt column installed:whistle:

I'll have to see if I've got any good close up ones... they are in the Red '51 and Blue '49 I currently have (though the boy didn't paint the one in the '49, so I have to pull it, sand it, and paint it now)...

You can poke around on warloch.com and see what I've got there - nothing close I can remember.

    I have a question;)

This is the crossmember which is currently on this jeep. It doesn't have a place for the transfer case to rest nor was there any hardware. Is this a correct, I can't find any information about crossmembers. I need this corrected or leave it alone. Also the transmission mount doesn't look correct(no pic)

This pic is looking at it from the front of the jeep.

These are the shims which were sandwiched between the crossmember and frame.

This is a crossmember on ebay, but it says for a T90 transmission (I have a T-14a) and Dana 18 transfer(I don't know what TC I have) case, but looks like the one on my brothers '62.

    Transmission Crossmember T90 Dana18 fit willys jeep CJ2A CJ3A CJ3B CJ5 M38 38A1 | eBay

    Thank you!!!

I have the same crossmember in my Jeep. From what I could find the v6 jeeps used a motor mount from the f134 mounted sideways in the frame, and have a steel hanger from the transfer case to the motor mount. I’ll see if I can find a picture.

If you zoom in on this pic you can kind of see it. Mine was pulled apart. I think I’m going to change it to the earlier style that goes through the crossmember, seems to me it’s a much better design.

Thank you thank you! That's been driving me nuts! So, I could use this crossmember (below) vs the one I have? Just seems better to have a support; just funny that the '62 I worked on has a much better system.

    1. That looks just like my cross member. The notch shape allows clearance for L shaped bracket with hole for a 1/2" bolt that ties the tab on the transfer case down for anti-torque. There should be a rubber pad between the bracket and the frame. The transfer case is supported by the 5 bolts that attach it to the transmission. The spacers are typical also. I am talking about the crossmember you posted Dne.

Thank you Ron for that picture~ that clears it up;) Now I understand the "notch". I just need to order a motor mount and fabricate a bracket :bananatool:.
    Thank you too Grant!
