    Well it’s all back together!

runs pretty good, smells a little rich, but other than that, we’s all good.

Drove about an hour and half to pick these wheels up for a great deal. I have a 5th matching and the guy threw in 2 of the original steel rims.

The white color helps break up the solid black and blue.

Cleaned up some odds and ends, did an alignment, bracket to secure fuel tank better, battery bracket, dopey oil plug was leaking, fixed that. Re-bled my brakes, and installed a YJ parking brake to the trans brake.

Also took it out for a good ride today, and everything seems to be in order. Brakes work well, drives like a 50 yo Jeep, lol.

Top speed is pretty low, even with the 302. I have 4.88 gears, and I can basically drive in 3rd gear. I think I top out around 45? That’s using my gps speedo on my phone, while I’m driving and bouncing around, not the best.

I was wondering why the Jeep was so slow...only had 1/3 throttle....fixed that...not slow anymore!

So I was browsing on CL and picked up a great deal on this Wilco hitch gate tire rack. I was going to make my own from scratch but this was actually cheaper than buying parts. So I buy the bullet. I first mounted a receive to the “stock” bumper and it stuck to far out. So I cut some brackets, welded them to the Wilco rack and mounted it up.

I was debating to mount it up higher, but then the tire would be high up, lower and easier to get the tire up, but then there’s a gap. I ended up here, still may change it and go up.

That's really awesome (what would we do without CL!); bet you can pull a wheelie now(kidding)! ;) That's a nice looking find!! I don't think we're even going to attempt a spare tire carrier
we were thinking like in the pic below, just kind of mocked up, but then it takes up the entire payload area or for carrying groceries, etc. But I like what you did!! ;)

Yeah, I like how your idea doesn't add to the length of the jeep, but I have some kiddos that love riding around in it, so out to the back it went...

Nice build... good work. Noticed you got yj brake booster+ master I getting ready to also do this swap with 74 cj clutch quadrant. Except for adapting the yj/cj brake linkages any other issues you incountered? I as well plated over factory heater firewall area with 14 gauge plate. Thanks j

no real issues, It was fairly straight forward, just getting everything into position was the most challenging. Not hard just tedious. I used the little foam gasket that goes between the booster and firewall as my template.

I actually have the stock drums on my jeep with the trans brake. So I hooked the cable directly up to the trans brake...works fine with no issue. I made a mount for the stock yj brake cable to mount to, then ran it over the drum on the trans. I may add a pulley to redirect it a little, but as of now, no issues.

Excellent, thank you. Yah I guess that factory yj main cable is kinda long for these short wheelbase rigs. Your future pulley is to keep the cable sheathing more taughant (tight) ... so no some movement while engaging brake?

to help it pull more straight on with the lever for the trans brake. right now its at almost a 45 degree angle....works fine, but would really rather have it more of a direct pull.

Beautiful build. What radiator did you use?
Sorry if I missed it in the thread.
