Fc-150 Narrow Track Vin Location

does anybody have any information on where the vin location is on the FC-150's?

i am going to have a state patrol officer come out, and i need to show him all the Vin locations to get this thing titled.
vin #1: the data tag inside passenger seat mount area.
vin #2: the engine vin, located between the carb and the valve cover
vin#3: somewhere on the frame.

i had to do this to get a title for my 70cj5, and that was pretty straight forward. vin 3 was on the outside front half, near the front shock if memory serves me correctly.

the FC connection has a small tech spot for the vin locations on the wide track FC-150s, but i need it for the narrow track.

i looked in the recommended spot (on the top of the frame, passenger side, near the shock mount) but couldn't find it.

 

I was able to access the FC Connection website. You might want to try it again. According to them the early FC's have the vin numbers in the same place as the later FC'c. Good luck!

I have a '57 and a '62 FC150 and both have the alloy serial plaques on the passenger (right) top wheel arch easily viewed with the door open. The number on the engine is simply the engine number, usually beginning "J4...". The engine number is completely independent of the vehicle serial number, but some States back in the day (New Jersey) used the engine number instead of the vehicle serial number for titling purposes. I have a '53 Wagon titled using the F-head serial number, and the guy swapped out a 327 back in the '70s, so the identification numbers were lost... stupid New Jersey!
I have never found the last digits on the serial plaque stamped on the frame, but I've never had either of my bodys off the chassis or sand blasted the area. I've looked around the front shock location, but mine have heavy surface rust. I'm assuming that, like the CJ5, that only the last 5 or 6 digits of the complete serial number will be stamped on the frame.
The inspector should only need to verify the plaque on the right front wheel arch as this is the serial plaque. You can show him the engine number, but it won't match the vehicle serial number. It might be helpful for you if you can find a couple photos of other FC serial plaques showing the location and phillips screws retaining it. I have had several inspectors get pretty bent-out-of-shape seeing those screws on various Jeeps. They insist they were supposed to be rivets retaining the plaque. Bigbendhiker's link should help, though I've never seen the plaque on the left side.

My experience also. I do have a bare 57 frame leaning against the shop wall I could check for stamped numbers.

 

My 57 FC150 had the frame number stamped on top of the right rear frame rail. Had to lift the bed for the state patrol to inspect it. Mine was very, very faint, but it was there, right near where the V member hits the frame from the rear crossmember.
