Hi all, been a long time since I posted I am now a care giver for my wife and that takes up most of my time now. My question on my speedo is probably an old one for all that have more knowledge than I . I rebuilt an original speedo that I bought and it came out great. I bought NOS gauges from blue moon scooter on E Bay and installed them as best I knew how. When installed I referred to the service manual for correct wiring and used this forums tech info as well. The fuel gauge works, but reads full all the time, so back to the shop man. again and switched leads to the sending unit(Brand new as well as fuel tank), gauge still reads full all the time. I also replaced the wires to the gauge as well as the ground wire from the sending unit. Unless I did something wrong rebuilding the speedo I am lost as I can’t spend lots of time troubleshooting now. Any and all help will go a long way to keep my sanity intact. Thanks, Vince in Yakima

The fuel gauge is also the voltage regulator for the gauges. If grounding of the instrument cluster is not correct it can read wrongly or be permanently damaged. I'm not an expert, but Walt is. Try search...

I suspect when you reassembled fuel gauge
the sending unit stud . is touching housing
    check with a multi- meter
see if you have continuity between stud and housing

    yes to what pete said
CLUSTER must be grounded before applying 12 volts to it
