I have all the hardware and rear seat to install it. The problem I see is the strap that the front of the seat bracket is right over the bolt for the body mount. I have 2 additional straps but not sure how they make it work. Can someone let me know how you make it work and still have the body mounts in the same spot? I will try and post a picture of what I am trying to explain.

Here is the bracket kit I have. It is kinda hard to see but here goes. 4 of the straps are the same. What are the 2 straps that are in the photo that are different? I have them also. Does the 2 straps go over the body mount bolt head?

Got a pic of where you are placing the straps?

I'm not sure about a '71 but on my '55 there's knockouts in the floor for the strap bolts that are not in the same place as the body mounts.

Negative timgr. My 1971 has body mount bolts where you show the forward straps.

Are you sure they are body mount bolts? I installed the same brackets you show, and there were bolts placed there by the factory to fill the holes. Try looking underneath to see if they are actually holding anything or just covering the holes.

The forward "straps" share the body to frame hole. In other words it goes through the bracket- through the floor and into the frame.

I basically made them work. I took a hole saw and cut a hole where the body mount bolt goes. I then used a shorter bolt so the nut was not sticking up into the bed area. It is a recessed nut and bolt. Now the brackets will work. I will take a picture to show you what I had to work with.

Of course there is more to the story. Here is shot of the parts book that lists three kits that have these type of brackets.

The brackets on my seat (which was said to be a "67) are too thick to go under the retainer.

I suspect the 956264 kit fits this seat.

Here is the seat bracket I have, it bolts to the bottom of the seat frame.

Can someone with a later rear seat verify the height of Retainer which would be 970099.

So here is how the spring mounts.

A cotter pin goes under the washer so when you pull up the spring compresses.

The ones I just picked up for my 1970 have a very small cotter pin that goes through a small hole drilled into the pin. This cotter pin retains the washer and the spring. You first put the the spring and the washer in the space between the two holes and then insert the pin through the holes and spring. Then you insert the cotter pin through the hole to retain the washer and spring - so it does not pop out. Hope that helps. My 1966 does not have the cotter pin. It looks like the pin was crimped at the factory to retain the washer and spring rather than use a cotter pin.

Sorry for the bump but do you still have a copy of this image? It appears photobucket decided to blur it out and throw their logo over it haha
