I think this is an even better shot OzFin, taken by Scott who is a member of the Cherokee Australia 4WD club on the weekend away.

This was the second and successful attempt at the slippery hill that I had taken on a little bit too gently the first run up and lost traction about 2/3's of the way to the top.
So backed it down and gave it a good squirt to get the turbo singing on the second run.

Yep, had a fair bit of interest in it since it got on the road.

Tested it out even more this past weekend on our first trip with the Cherokee club.
The track out of the camping spot.

Later in the day it warmed up a bit so we went topless.

    Some teething issues Focker.
Got a whine in the transfer case that is annoying. Have an eye out for another gearbox to swap into it.
Plus a recurring oil leak at the rear main seal despite having replaced the seal once already.

But can't complain about the fuel economy which has been good and the power from the little engine is also good with the turbo on it.

Got a new project to occupy myself, a couple of bren gun carriers to restore.
Ford V8 sidevalve power plant, basically a tracked and armoured version of a jeep.

So a whole new learning experience with an even heavier vehicle.

Thanks jeep peep. Glad you enjoyed it.

Here's the next project, the universal (bren) carrier, LP2A, in case anyone is interested or has never seen one before.

The chopped down and stripped hull that I found out west.

So far have got the upper hull plates back in place and have been collecting all the other parts required.

How it will end up looking once everything else goes back together.

    That is number 731 built.
Mine is #4425 built in 1943.
We only made around 5600 in total so there are not to many left any more.

I know it's not a jeep, but I thought you guys would like to see the Machine Gun Carrier (Bren carrier) now that it is running and mostly completed its restoration.

I think of them as armoured and tracked jeeps.

Has taken around 11 months to get it from the bath tubbed hull and assorted loose parts in the previous pictures to the state it is now.

Engine they ran with was a flathead Ford V8 with truck gearbox.
Remote linkage to the front driving compartment for gearchanges.
Direct link to the diff that is bolted to the rear plate and the side armour.

Drivers position with the gunners position on the left.
Steering is by track displacement initially, then the brakes come into play to do the pivot turns.

Nice job on the "old iron", not many people can say they have a vehicle like that in their collection (y)

    Hey gents.
Hoping someone may be able to help or advise another solution.

I'm starting to restore the AMC CJ6 and need some help getting parts from the US.

Normally I would use Morris 4x4 but decided to give Rockauto a try. Their pricing seems very hard to beat.

However, after spending a few hours getting the items in the cart the website says they wont send to Australia because the government down here wants them to collect sales tax.

So my request is for someone to accept the parcels for me and then forward them on to me?

I think Rockauto sends multiple parcels so it may require boxing them up into a single larger box.

There are on shipping companies that do this but their rates seem outrageous.

I worry that we are going to be screwed over by our tax man and our access to overseas sellers is being cut off.
So I'm concerned the same thing might happen if I did an order from Morris' as well.

    Thanks
    Glen
