on a 72-75 chassis I noticed the front shock mounts are different than what is being offered by Crown or Omix as 45-75 compatible..

Has anybody done anything different in the front for better shock travel while still staying relatively stock?

does anybody have a part number for the 72-75 upper mount since I'm fairly good at finding unicorn poop.

Book says it's an 805635. That's an old number, maybe pre-1950-ish. Same as what you were finding?

I did this upper mount mod for some better options. Pretty easy with a chunk of 1.5" x 3" tube and a bolt.

I pulled some from a Wagoneer, same as later CJs I think. Drilled a few hole's and bolted them on. Of course I had to move the lower shock mount up to the axle tube.
