A long time ago I think I posted this and thought maybe some of the new folks might like it. I made up a data sheet for my 71 / V-6 with a lot of data and part numbers for me to use when getting new parts. You can go here and down load the PDF file. If somebody would like it in a Excel format I can post it.
    Hope it can help somebody.

Mike, check what you say your rear axle is.
    Other than that, nice job.

That's pretty cool. Maybe we could make a library of these "build sheets" put toghether by owners.

I would point out that the 9xxxxx numbers on the drivetrain components are not serial numbers, but part numbers. Serial numbers would be applied sequentially at manufacture, and these components were never assigned serial numbers, AFAIK. Your transfer case should also have a tag, and it would have a Jeep Corp part number just like the transmission and axles. Typically these tags have a Jeep PN, a B-W/Dana reference number, and some descriptive info like "T-14A" or "41 11."

Thanks for this. I have a small book I keep in my glove box with something similar but in a much smaller version. Never know when something breaks out on a joy ride or trail and you can't remember what part # you need!

really nice information, thanx for sharing this. One interesting item I have always had in the back of my mind since I purchased my 71 new in Phoenix (avatar pic), is the roll bar. Don't think I have ever seen one like mine (low horizontal support arm) on another 71. Most all I have seen are like yours Mike. As we all know, the 71 was a changeover year with many unique parts.

    Very nice bit of work.
I'd like to have the excel file in order to incorporate our cj info.
