A friend of mine has one of these on loan for the summer so I borrowed it for a couple weeks. I hooked it up to my Craftsman 3200 PSI pressure washer and have been using it to sandblast my frame outside. So far it has been pretty awesome and I would highly recommend it. We bought two 50 lb bags of Quickrete play sand from Lowe's and managed to do about 50% of the frame so far in two sessions of about an hour each

    Here's a video:

I'm set up in a carport to keep the spray from leaving the zone I'm in, and wearing safety glasses, a face shield, disposable clothes, and a N100 respirator. My friend says I'm being overly cautious about silica dust hazard since it's wet blasting. I wrote Typhooon to ask them what they think about the hazards of blasting with play sand, but no reply yet. Wondering what you guys think? Am I being overly cautious? What about cleanup afterwards when I am done and tear everything down? I'd hate to have to worry about fine silica dust in the yard for the dog/wife/kid. My plan was to wet everything down afterwards and either turn the soil over or haul it out to the dump.

Isn’t this the same sand we all played in as kids in the sandbox? Silicosis is a real thing. With proper protective equipment and wetting during use you should be limiting the exposure.

Yeah it is the same sand we all played in, and the bag is full of cancer warnings (although what isn't since I live in Californistan).

I called Typhoon and talked to their tech department, and they said that it's safe to use play sand in their unit as the water eliminates all the dangerous dust. I'm still going to be cautious and clean it up after though and keep everything wet. Man this thing rips through the rust and paint like butter.

They are pricey with the pressure washer included (Typhoon Blasters — TYPHOON BLASTER), however I have a unit that's just the hopper and I have it hooked to a Craftsman Pressure washer from Lowe's. I am borrowing it from a buddy who's got on on loan for the summer.

I'd like to see how much one is without the pressure washer - I have a good one of those. Did some looking, but my google phoo must be off tonight as I couldn't find one. I've been contemplating getting a blaster at any rate (looking a soda setups) so this looks like a great option for what I would use it for.
