Rochester 2gc Jets

Hi, does anyone knows where I can buy new jets for my carburator? I like to adjust it a little.

And another question is; What is the effect of adjusting the float level higher or lower in the carb.

The following statement is over simplified, but...
Higher float, as in more fuel in bowl= richer
Lower float, as in less fuel in bowl= leaner

Is my thinking wrong as I say that floatlevel( besides the accelertion pump) is for the acceleration. As with low level the car starts hassititing when I accelerate and overflows with a high level.

My "small"problem is that at any level the carb /exhaust is stinking gazoline. And I thing it can be solved with smaller jets and not with changing floatlevel.

Any suggestions?

Higher or lower float level changes the air-fuel mixture, all other factors unchanged. Higher float level increases the static pressure at the jets and delivers more fuel under all conditions. Jet size has the same effect, but the change due to float level is smaller compared to a jet size change.

When you open the throttle (acceleration), the mixture gets leaner and that makes hesitation or stalling more likely. The accelerator pump overcomes this mechanically, with a shot of fuel. Float level is only part of this equation.

 

Thank you , now I understand the effect of different floatlevels. ( change in the static pressure.) I live at sealevel, and 50 is the number of the jets. Should be good, but try a little smaller to experiment

When straighten the accelerator pump lever, does it give more? or should I bend it

You may be able to go to smaller jets with a bit larger accelerator pump shot. This would make the steady-speed mixture leaner, and possibly overcome any hesitation when you open the throttle. Sorry, I don't know enough about the 2Gc to comment on the lever adjustment.

 

Yes right. I will try to bend it a bit, but like to know when I need a little more if the rod should be bent to shorten or straighten . But good advice, I will get in touch with Mike
