I got some low back buckets to replace my tattered and worn Tuxedo bench and passenger seat (these are tucked away safe above my barn for a later date) but I didn’t realize the Tux seats had the frames/seats all as one unit. I fabricated my own seat brackets because....You can not find seat frames anywhere! Wow! My question is would these fit an early CJ5 1965 with underseat tank. I found this ad on eBay and it says for 72-75? Thanks!

Driver's seating position is different '72-75. More outboard. Won't work without cutting it up and rewelding more inboard. Passenger side is basically the same. Pretty sure the earlier ones do not have the short forward-pointing brace, but you could drill a hole and keep that.

I don't think the Tux is special re seat type, but instead that all the CJs prior to 1966 (?) used the flat buckets with an integral frame. Others will be more certain.

Gotcha, I was just curious. Here is my passenger seat vs new seat. My driver is the bench with slide function.

I see. The OEM molded bucket seats are definitely comfortable ...

The 60/40 bench was optional at least into the late '70s. The brackets for those changed along with the brackets for the buckets. Not as comfortable as the buckets, but intended to allow 3-across seating. Goes with the column shift.

Yes, the seat brackets are very much in demand.

Thank you guys. I made my own brackets and they work but if I find a set that is original somewhere I’ll snatch them up!

I had to re-do my seat mounts to accommodate a passenger side fuel tank. I have some pieces that might help you. Message me if you are interested and we can figure something out.

It’s 3/4” GRC bent and flattened out to mimic the stock passenger frame with unistrut mounted across. I have all-thread ground to fit in the ends so it all hinges like original. The driver seat sits on unistrut as well and bolts to existing mounts. I am an electrician by trade and I seem to have an endless supply of strut, random nuts/bolts and all thread laying around. (y)

Here's what I made for my Smittys. Passenger side similar.

That is big $$ for the seat brackets. Took me most of a year looking but finally got both sides for about $100.
I have the spare small hinges like shown in 65seejayfives post. PM me if you need them.
