Thinking out loud here...Can I get a dual master cylinder from a 67 cj5 to bolt in place of a 62 MC on a cj5?

Looks like you would be drilling thru the reservoir. It would be more trouble than making a mounting bracket.

These are two different designs between the '62 and '67, so the answer is, no, they won't interchange. The early version has mounting bosses that run horizontally through the reservoir for the bolts to the frame rail.
The later style is more conventional with two mounting tabs on either side of the pushrod, requiring a totally different bracket. The later type can easily be used with Herm, the overdrive guy's kit, or sourcing the later CJ mounting brackets.

You'd need to get a mount from Herm, this is a copy of the 67+ mount & requires some mods to the frame. Moses ludel also has a design for one in his rebuilder's guide.

I fabbed a bolt on for use with a MC from Willwood, not sure if it would work with a stock 67 mc or not.

I think at a minimum you would need the mounting bracket from a 67-69 (sometime in 70 I believe they switched to the MC with the bale-type lid) and the push rod stud on the brake lever arm is possibly a different diameter. Brake lines may or may not line-up.

Nothing overly complicated, but not a direct replacement.

Howard, do you have a template of that bracket? I want to go with a dual circuit master cylinder but don’t quite have the room.

Sorry this is the best I ever got around to doing, scale is in 10ths/inch but don't take it as gospel. Made in 2 pieces out of 3/16" plate. On mine with the stock pushrod the pedal arm comes *That* close to the bracket at full depression of the piston, if you're a little off the bracket may need to be notched a bit on the top corner. If you're running the Ross box you'll need to install the rear mounting bolt with the head inside the frame for clearance of the mc front end. It's not shown here but I had to drill a relief hole for clearance of the rear un-drilled output boss on the back side of the Willwood MC.
