I ask because I can pick up a set of Kelsey Hayes 15” rims with tires for 80 bucks. But not sure if it’s even worth it since they are so narrow. With a lift I’m not sure how a skinny tire might look

those wheels are in demand a bit. You may have to sit on them for a while before a good trade or such. Personally, I think a good set of original skinny tires (bias 7.0 x15 or similar, around 29 to 30 inches with full rubber) look good on a jeep, even if there's a little bit of lift. Use your other wheels to put some 30in or 32in radials on it for snow, etc. Also depends on what you want to do with the rig...

as far as picts, my build thread, last page or so. Standard springs with longer 'mcruff' shackles (about 1in of lift give or take), tub not in final spot, but currently with about 1.5 in of body lift while I work on some clearance issues under the body.

So they ended up being ford 15” wheels, not KH’s. But I picked them up anyway. The tires on them were in good shape, and feel I couldn’t go wrong for 80 bucks. I already enlarged the centers to fit over the hubs.

Next thing I’m going to tackle is the front axle. Needs a full rebuild. And the rear axle seems good also so I will just go through the brakes on that.

Its been a few weeks since I've posted. I was busy with my endurance truck, and had a big race a couple of weeks ago. Finally back and settled in so I started putting the front axle together. I have it mounted on the truck, and need to do the knuckles, and brakes. The wear pattern on the ring and pinion is pretty close to where it should be. Its my second time doing one, the first was on my race truck and its held up for 5 races, and over 70 hours of racing, so Im confident that if the jeeps is a little off, it will last.

After moving in a few months back, and getting some work done to the new house, I'm finally starting to get some work done to the jeep. Still trying to organize my new garage, so things are a little cramped.

After looking at the motor with the body on, I didn't like where it was sitting, so I moved it back more, and lower. And it fits so much better now. I bolted up my drive shafts, and the angles look acceptable so Im going with it.

Pulled the tub off again, and removed the hat channels, and started making up my own out of 1x2 stock I had around...I believe its 1/8" . Hoping to get to the metal yard sometime this week to pick up some 18 gauge to start making new floors and such. The tub is strapped to my lally column in the garage so its not going anywhere.

Tomorrow I’ll do up the rear floor. I don’t have a bead roller, so I have been playing around with forms and the air hammer with smoothing dies to bang in some ribs with some success, but, I may just put in a flat sheet and just support it a lil more. A seat frame will go there anyway so it won’t see much in the form of cargo anyway.

Haven't posted in a while, been pretty busy, but actually got a lot done. Made up some gaskets for my dualmatic hubs this am at work using my laser cutter. I also did a bunch of stuff over the weekend. Will post some pics later on.

    Been busy getting things done...
tub is mounted to the frame in 4 spots, and still need to come up with 4 mounts in the rear, but for now its good. Mounted my new radiator, and electric fan that is thermostatically controlled. It actually works pretty good. Mounted the yj master and vacuum booster, and ran all new brake lines. Cut and mounted the pedals on the inside, put the wilwood hydraulic clutch in, wired up the motor, and one wire alternator. Mounted my exhaust, some summit glass packs with ebay turndowns. Sounds pretty mellow. I did some patch panels, haven't ground down the welds yet, figure I really tackle the body over the winter. I think I did some other stuff but that's most of it. Oh, and I ran a new fuel line, made a new seat bracket, and mounted my seats..Now that I look back, Ive been pretty busy.

The brakes work ok, I need to rebleed them, and swap where the front and rear go into the proportioning valve. I thought the front circuit was for the front brakes...I was wrong..so It could be why its not stopping as good as I would like, but it does stop. Runs pretty good. Shifts pretty easily, put 50 wt motor oil in the transfer case and trans. no grinding or anything, so I guess my rebuild was ok. Here are some pics.

Good work! I'm a little surprised the steering bellcrank is still in there and not a power bronco box or Saginaw.

Yeah, I was debating it. I want to get the truck mechanically sound and moving, which it’s pretty close to at this point, and then go into it the body.

I have a slight water pump leak, and need to do the timing cover and water pump gaskets.

I thinking around spring time I should be on the final leg.

I was tooling around my neighborhood yesterday and the jeep feels suprisingly good. I think I may buy an overdrive unit, to slow the revs down when cruising. Hey, can somebody post a pic of where there gas pedal is. My clutch and brake feel like they are in the right spot, my accelerator looks good as far as position, but in actual use is a little uncomfortable. Thanks
