Anyone ever cut the spokes on an original and the wheel rim? Looking for a smaller diameter wheel but still want the factory look.

I don't see how you could reconstruct it?

Why not just take the original wheel off the steering shaft and then put whatever steering wheel you want on there?

Look up Sheller steering wheel on Ebay. Lawn mover, tractor, etc. You're probably going to have to modify it.

Most of the sheller wheels are the same size. Looks like you can use acetone and pieces of old wheel to make repairs. Getting my column in tonight and looks like i can mount it for now and it will work, but the lower shaft is too short. I'll see if i can get some tubing from alro tomorrow so i can lengthen it.

Thought i had an extra wheel. If i find it i may still try to make a smaller diameter wheel. For now i fits

Would smaller diameter wheel make turns harder/more difficult without owner steering?

Would make getting in and out easier for sure, leg clearance is scarce on mine.

    smaller diameter=less rotational force=harder.

Lol. I don’t have that luxury. Still have the original Ross gearbox on mine. Too many other projects to tackle/button up first. But hopefully one day.

Worked on the column attachment over the last week. Worked on a mount for the bottom tonight.

Did you have to move the steering box to raise the column. I have stared at mine a few times wondering if this was possible. Would love to have more room to make it easier to get in and out of the Jeep..

Right now my mod for making it easier to get in and out is to attempt to loose a few pounds. Note I said 'attempt' but tonight's apple pie did not help.

I had a cherokee gm style column in before. Think this one came out of a 79 cj.

I have lost 32 lbs. Modified Keto lifestyle. The biggest issue is my seats came out of Dodge Durango so they sit higher than stock seats or at least appear to and am just over 6’1” and all legs. Lol

The later column like i am using sits a little higher in the dash. I havent tried it before, but the ross box does have some rotational adjustability at the frame. Wonder if you could rotate it enough to tuck it a couple inches further up into the dash?
