Little afternoon without our two children. Took some time going up the ski mountain that is in the back of our home. Had good time with my girlfriend [IMG]

Been offered new tailight for the jeep with back up light in the same light. So i was able to take off the two spot i put there. Now the spot will be on the windheids hinge.
It will help when i will plow this winter better wiew of the side.

Also i did fab a braket to put a swith directly on the shifter. It will be easier to operate the plow this way.

So spring is around the corner, so time for another project.

Looking forward to put a selectable locker in the rear this spring and maybe a front one next winter. I've been driving the jeep for the last 7 years with a lincoln locker in the rear so when turning sharp corner i have a lot of body roll. Also it's harder on mechanical component.

I'm looking over two choice right know. Arb air locker or eaton e-locker. I would have a preference over the e-locker because it rely on two wire instead of the air supply that i read is prone to leak.

But as i talk to the 4x4 shop i used to buy part, he told me that arb is stronger and easier to get part is any problem occur. I already have a small ARB compressor in the engine bay but i will need to put a small tank.

The price is similar for arb or eaton so from there is just a matter of preferences...

right now i'm confuse about the choice i make. If other has any experience you free to share...always good to get second taught on pricy part.

SO another spring project is to add a front sway bar. I did already have a rear one with disconnect but i wanted more stability for the road so i bought a 2015 Jk front sway bar. Bar is heaving with a 1 1/4" Od.

There's two versions of the Eaton elocker- one with two spiders & one with four. The fours are well thought of, the two's are ok but not as strong (although considered to be stronger than the units factory installed in jk/jl's). The main issue people don't like about the elocker is that the axle has to turn a bit for the unit to engage, and reversing gear causes it to unlock then re-lock which is problematic if you're trying to rock yourself out of a hole.

Here's some pics of the 2 spider unit I bought for Tonk-

On some of these factory bars converted to CJ use you can sometimes get far more control than you expected for the street............Off road disconnects Yes......don't know your sprung and un-sprung weights vs the JK..........but it surely would be some good info to have going in...

What do you mean by " far more control " ?

Also my cj is far from a factory set-up....

I did look for a YJ or TJ bar but due to space and width the Jk bar is almost my only option.

Being significantly stiffer than perhaps you anticipated............that would go back to the weights up there both in sprung and un-sprung .......and the leverage created by the length of the arm...........

Not to say yours could be an issue........just making the point that those are purpose built......and I have in the past tried to use a few OEM bars but found they were a little stiff to my liking on the pavement........Off Road obviously no issue once disconnected....

The one i'm looking for my 44 is the four spiders gears. I read a lot over them and seem that the 4 spyder gear is a big upgrade.

I think for now i will pull the trigger over the eaton :p

So...last week-end plan has change so e-locker is now on hold.

I got some tooth damage inside my dana 20 transfert case. We were on the annual open play on our local ski-mountain. Been the fourth year that i goes there but this year the snow wasn't forgiving on the mechanic. It was a warn day and snow turn into slush and 4x4 had a hard time playing on it.

So after a 4 hour of hard play started to hear cliking noise from the t-case and ended up without any front power.

Removed the transfert case yesterday in the garage here's the find. Some broken teeth on the intermediate gear and half of broken teeth on the drive gear (the on that bolt to the transmission)

    57490378_411112863039887_6557030835982172160_n.jpg

So now i may look over a 3.15 gear kit or i try to find the drive gear (only part i don't have in spare).

So part are coming in this week, still waiting for a seal that goes on the adapter and still waiting for the intermediate gear to be machined so i can still use my AA bearing kit.

Here's the donor, i will use all the gear inside it. I will just swap my modified twin stick shifter with the modified shift rail.

    57418964_1661202390648724_5407271037190537216_n.jpg

So i did give a good cleanup to the empty case, did remove all the dirt, chase all the thread. I use masking tape on every place that will have a seal or a part. Give a nice finish. I will start reassembly tonight normaly.
