What Did You Do To Your Jeep Today?

Another myth I've busted all my life. As long as the ground is within a foot or so of the area being welded, I've welded on vehicles without ever disconnecting the battery. Wouldn't do that on an electric car or hybrid though.

The other myth is the ol' leave a battery on concrete and it will discharge. IF it's dirty then that IS true. If the battery is clean, it will hold charge if it's a decent battery. Any time I have to store a battery, I take it to the slop sink and scrub it down with warm water and a nylon brush. Then I top off the charge in the battery while it dries off. When done, I can then store it where ever it's safe and out of the way until needed, including leaving it on a bare concrete floor!

That looks like fun, sometimes I miss winters in central NY, then in 15 seconds the feeling goes away.

 

I had a beer while charging my tractor to unstick my jeep from the side of the house.

Then, I after getting my jeep unstuck, I got my jeep stuck hauling sap buckets out to the woods.

Is that an intermediate dash being converted to an early dash?

 

Filled the tranny and transfer case.

Gl-5 in the front with friction modifier for the power Lok. Why does modifier smell so bad?

 

Got off my bum today and stopped procrastinating.

Got to drop the fuel tank fir the first time. It is empty. Drop the skid pan for it, 6 bolts, then a couple bolts holding the tank.

Then i cut the mounts i made for the tank and made some extensions to lower the tank.

This should help get the sending unit lower so i can run the tub on a single puck spacer.

Ran out of time to put things back together.

Only one smashed thumb with a blood blister under my nail.

 

I installed a parking brake handle. I've been carrying a chock in the jeep to put under a wheel when I park.



I clamped the end of the cable housing to the transmission cross member.



It's nice having a parking brake now.

 

I ordered two sets of the disc brake conversion brackets for the Geo Tracker Suzuki Sidekick disc brake conversion from brennan. Going to put them on the wife's 62 CJ5 pretty quick

Yesterday we started rebuilding the 302 that's going in my son's Willys pickup. Pretty straightforward except we found chunks of the cam bearings, of all things, in the oil pan.

I made a storage box in the back fender for my chains and stuff. I dont like to use the under seat box it always fills up with woodchips or its covered in logs or whatever when i need something. I also put the same latch on the under seat box. They are kinda touchy and pop open when you hit the little bump but if you lock them they are fine. I didnt have a key that fit but i found one that almost worked and filed down the pins inside to work. Also the taillight is flush mount inside so i can turn on the lights and the plate light shines into it. And i painted the inside white
