(Cough, cough) Good to know! (Cough).

Having grown up in SoCal, photochemical smog is a real problem. Limiting NOx is important where there's so much sunshine, I'd presume. I've experienced the brown haze. The LA basin has much better air quality than it used to - and the air in the 70s actually hurt if you breathed deeply.

Did you mean 67 and newer? Everything 66 and older I’ve had has been no emissions even in Phx. I worry bout this as we could end up back in the valley, I’d hate put a bunch of time n effort into this n have to get rid of it if we had to move.

No emission check in Oregon except Portland metro and maybe Medford . So far the gov has been fairly user friendly toward classic vehicles . Plus the Forever plate .$100.00 one time.

Still does... Better than well now. After ten years of upgrades and mods.. Only complaint is the door opening. Wallet gets hung up when exiting..

Then there was the 1960 190db my father bought near new when I was a freshman in HS. Not the car most male teenagers would prefer. It was rated at 55 hp but a race with one of those 36 hp VWs was a best a draw. It did impart a driving style upon me. You learned to conserve all momentum possible. To the limits of that rear swing axle suspension that had some very unsettling quirks when pushed to extremes--------

I eventually bought that car and a half million miles later put it out to pasture. If you kept the speed to 55 mph it got 50 mpg.

You are correct, our 40 hp 1600cc will run 70 all day long. There's also an aerodynamic thing happening there- bugs are a lot more slick head on than a jeep.

And my wife... Took her on a trail in Moab, called Cameo Cliffs was pretty mellow til about halfway through. The trail made it's way along a rock ledge with a several hunert feet drop, on HER side.. I finally told her to just put her head in her lap and don't look.. No way to turn around. At the end was a huge rock I had to drive across.. Narrow and fell away on both sides..

The only '75 CJ5's that required a cat were the V8's. No Federal or even CA. requirement for 6's & 4's that year. :schooled:
