Hose that was on Valve.jpg Part # Master Cyl.JPG Valve in Question.JPG Hi Ya'all.... Can anyone please help me identify this ? What is the purpose & routing hose of the Valve ? I believe this is a GM product, , but it's in my '75 Cj that I bought last Fall . The Engine is from a 1984 Buick Regal Turbo V6.... I'm learning to become one with it , but I need some advice on this ID . I had removed the line in the picture , about a month ago. It originally went from the valve to space underneath. I started it yesterday & the peddle was soft & slowly leaking down . I heard what sounded like an air leaking sound ? There was no Brake fluid below the valve , or anywhere evident ? Any help / info would be surely appreciated. Thanks, Lockman.

Looks to me like you have a hydroboost brake system which would have lines going to the power steering pump. Cant tell where the second picture is taken. Why did you remove the hose?

Agree with the above post, hydroboost system from a GM product. Probably went with this system due to the lack of intake manifold vacuum in a turbo charged application. This power assist is a sealed system with the powersteering pump the reservoir. I’m sure if you search this on the web, there will be schematics of the hydraulic system showing where all the hose attachment points are. Awesome Jeep BTW.

Chevy Astro van is a common donor for smaller vehicles. that is not an Astro Van master cylinder though - looks more like the original Jeep master cylinder. The Astro Van (and most modern cars) have aluminum master cylinders; aluminum cylinder with a plastic reservoir.

Not really unique ... hydroboost is a popular upgrade. It's an alternative to a vacuum power booster.

You can choose a lot of different master cylinders to work on the hydroboost unit. Not sure if that's a valve or a tee or some other fitting in your power steering lines. Have you traced the hydraulic lines from the power steering pump? That might be telling.

Thanks, timgr & the rest of ya'all for your help......I did have a gut feeling on this one, after looking @ EVERY picture & diagram of GM HydroBooster's that have EVER been made ..... ( LoL)
Any way , BREAKING NEWS : here's a reply from Matt Sweet @ Power Brake Service:

" The unit more likely has an internal accumulator that is part of the piston that pushes on the master cylinder. The hose was not where I thought it would be. I do not see how that hose would connect to an internal accumulator (since it moves), and I cannot tell where that is connecting to. It really might only be connected to the empty chamber and allow fluid to drain out where the hose ends rather than inside the JEEP when the seal finally goes bad in there. That isn't that common of a thing, but it could be done ".

With my knowledge of the attention to detail that the builder did 18 years ago, this is something they would have Done ! ! ! upload_2019-2-18_18-0-48.gif upload_2019-2-18_18-0-48.gif
    Thanks again, Ya'all , for all the looks & reply's.... Who Knew .......? ! ? ! SeeeeeeYaaaaaaaa...
