Hey Scott, When you did your spring conversion. did you have any issue with the metal spring bushing being to big for the hangers and shackles?

I am working on mine now and they seem to beabout 1/32 wider the the hangers. it is the back I am working on now.

Hmmm. I was told the arrow goes to the stationary hangar. I asked both RR and called the OME tech line. Both told me to put the arrow toward the statonary hangar.

If you look at the earlier pictures you will see someone had done a shackle reversal on his prior. He had to cut off the shackle reversal and turn the springs back the original direction. And, yes you are correct the arrow goes to the main eye frame mount.

I am using the CS036R springs on all 4 corners. And noticed they do have a tapered wedge ground into the axle mounting plate. On the rear this will help correct pinion angle but if left alone on the front will decrease the caster. If I was running a stock axle I'd try turning the plate 180 degrees to retain caster.

Yes I did talk to OME about the plate as I installed an 8° shim in the rear. They mentioned the factory shim at the time. I would think the arrow would go towards the new stationary hangar. I was under the impression that the reversal was done at the factory for some reason.

M38A1's like Scott's had a "shackle reversal" stock. One of the differences between a CJ-5 and their military brother.

In your case, follow what RR told you... They're the ones that put the kit together. The fact that they use OME springs really has no bearing. The OME guys know the application it was designed for (YJ) not what RR is using them for.

An old thread but does anyone remember what the torque spec was for the main spring eye bolt? Cannot figure if the 9/16” bolt should be factory spec or with the OME Springs and bushing something differeny.
    Thanks
    Dennis

Call ARB if you haven't already and need the torque spec. I've never worried about it. Just get it tight.
