I installed a new turn signal switch, metal this time, and added a horn. The old switch was broken off by my littlest guy Zeke. He has the same heavy hands I do. Nothing exciting, but Jeep time nevertheless.

This afternoon I mounted the windshield brackets on my '68 project. I needed my wife's help lifting the windshield over the hood, but she was taking a nap. I decided to mount the gas tank in the meantime. As Dewey Oxburger said in Stripes, "one thing lead to another." I had to make up a fuel line for the bottom of the tank:

The PO or the PO before that cut some rough holes in the tub to mount the gas tank selector and PTO stick between the front seats:

I decided to make some plates to cover those "precision cut" holes:

When my wife woke up she gladly helped me put the windshield on the hinges:

Life is good with a jeep project to work on.

Put on my new to me Craigslist Bestop Supertop. Just needs a good cleaning once the weather gets decent enough. Very good shape, happy with it for a couple hundred bucks (y)

Thanks, they are 30x9.50-15 BFGoodrich Mud Terrain KM3. I haven’t had them too long but so far I really like them.

Drove it around the block with my son, then let him drive it around the block. Baby steps.

I replaced all the brake lines, master cylinder and one drum and wheel cylinder, rebuilt the other 3 wheel cylinders, so brakes are as good as they will get until I upgrade to disc or at least to a dual reservoir master cylinder.

But I am sure you had as much fun as we did.

Scored a full set of rims and 31x10.5x15 tires today. Tires aren't great, but way better than what was on there, and instant 3" lift over the 235/70/15 that were on there. Willard is starting to take shape.

Brown and white Santa brought my mufflers, exhaust pipe ( how sad is it you can't get a length of pipe at flaps around here?)and a fondly gazed at Mojave Heater. I dropped it all in the 14°garage unceremoniously and retreated back to the wood pellet stove to sulk.

The top looks nice! It looks much warmer there than it is here! I had a heck of a time stretching mine on and I had it sitting inside my house beforehand. It was about 5*F when I put mine on though

Jeep looks good. Looks like a DS drop on the front axle.

I went out to the driveway this afternoon to work on my jeep. My plan was to install the transmission cover in the tub and all the other covers in that area and hopefully figure out the gas pedal and linkage. However, I'm the king of dinking around. I get out to the jeep and notice there's moss growing all over the driveway, so I get out some moss killer and sprinkle it around. Then I go to fit the transmission cover and find several of the mounting nuts are missing. What kind of nuts are those, anyway? They look like they clip in and can float around. I take a picture of them and post a picture on ECJ5 on another thread. A few people identify them and where to buy them. I order some. Back at the jeep, I'm adjusting the transmission cover and realize, "Hey, I should connect and bleed the hydraulic clutch while it's easy to get to, before covering it up." In order to bleed the clutch cylinder, I need to install the master cylinder and pedals. I go get the key to the shed, go unlock the shed, and find the box with the pedal assembly. The new master cylinder is already getting rusty. I better paint it before I install it:

After it dried an hour, I installed it in the firewall and hooked up the brake and clutch lines:

Then it started raining and I pulled the tarp back over the project. A professional dinker at work.

I finished making the tie rod and drag link for my steering conversion. Recently got the steering gear and steering shaft / steering column put together. Had to relocate and modify the shock mount in the process.

Adjusted Valve Lash, but made no improvement to tapping noise in engine. I also tightened up the Ross Gearbox to the Frame, turns out (pun intended) both bolts were loose.

Id like to do this as well, how hard was it? I got both the rocker arm cover gasket and side engine cover gasket and it seems pretty straightforward, I’ve just never done it before. My rocker arm cover gasket is leaking so I figured while fixing it I may as well check and adjust valve lash! (y) Any tips are appreciated!
