also, as you indicated, some wear on your first and reverse gears was present. I had similar wear on mine, a T-98 (precursor to the T-18). If I recall, they share some of the same bearings and such, and the differences you noted earlier might have been relative to those changes. I had the Tremac manual, and it was useful for the T-98, but I had to make a few leaps of faith along the way.

Glad to see you've got it 'done' and ready to go in.

Yes, a magnet is in the box, I actually mounted it to the PTO cover, that way I can remove the cover and clean the magnet with nothing in the way. The gear with the worst wear was the 1st gear and I replaced this, all others below this only needed a small touch from a file to clean the sharp edges.

Nice job. I did the same thing and same tranny on my CJ5 years ago.. I noticed in the photo that you still have the OEM cross member and torque arm affair.. I ditched mine after hanging up on rocks etc and beating it up pretty good. It was way mangled. The torque arm was a constant project. I made my own cross brace, still using the torque arm, and later changed it completely getting rid of the torque deal..

I have a skid plate that bolts up under the truck to protect the engine sump backwards. Just not shown in pic. Yeah without the plate it would get trashed in no time.

Mine got trashed no plate, but I gained almost 2 inches of ground clearance.

Just giving an update on this install, gearbox is working perfectly, no noises or abnormalities. I'm really pleased with the upgrade and low 1st gear.

that make definetly the best set-up for a off-roader.

I run 36" tsl with 3.73 gear in axle. Make a good rpm at 60 mph (2200-2300). On trail, first speed for crawling, second for mudding.
