I didnt know where to put this question, so I hope this is not a bad place.

I have what I believe to be a Koenig hard top (metal) for an early (came off of a 1957) CJ6. It has slide down front windows, slide open to the back quarter windows, and door handles that look like they belong on a camper door. The build that I am doing does not require the use of this hardtop, and if I were to use it I would have to cut it and modify it to make it work. Just thinking about cutting up an old hardtop like this makes me feel bad so I came here to ask for advice.

The top is nearly complete. It has the side doors, both sides and top. The rear door (hatch i suppose) is missing, but would probably be pretty easy to fabricate. I had the outside of it media blasted due to the rust that had built up on it over the years, and I wanted a better look at the state of the metal. It is not too bad, no rust holes, dents, or major damage. The glass is basically shot, but I saved it all so that new glass could be cut to the measurements of the old glass (or replace with plexiglass). Would need new seals and felt strips, but that is probably to be expected from something of this vintage.

Anyway, I have had a really hard time finding out any information about whether or not this is worth my time even trying to sell, or if I should just go ahead and cut it up for the build that I am working on to make it fit.

Post it for sale with some good pics. If you don't get any interest, cut away, you already have it.... my 2c

Well, Focker, I thought my wife had a lot of tops, but old jeeps got her beat.

I didnt see one exactly like what I got in there, but I am guessing that is because it is for a CJ6 and not a CJ5. I noticed that the Koenig cabs seem to have a slope in the roof toward the windshield which the cab that I have does not have. I will just have to take Bowbender's advice, get all the parts together, get some good pictures and see if there is any interest I suppose.

Thanks for being so helpful on this Christmas day :D

Interest in hard tops is sporadic at times so if you can, hang on to it if it doesn't sell right away. This is generally the time of year they sell best so maybe someone will want it. Also it would be a good candidate for making a half top out of.

Just FYI I could not give my (Meyer, with roll-up windows) CJ-6 hard top away. They are scarce, but it seems demand is even scarcer. I kinda think a top with so many issues (missing parts, broken glass, no crank-down windows) is going to have a very very hard time finding a home. JMO.

They make a great cover (shed) for storing parts underneath...............
I Had 2 Meyer tops you could unbolt and store flat, took up a lot less room.
Gave one away, stuck the other one on a parts Jeep and sold it with it after I stripped what I wanted off the Jeep.
You may find someone that wants/needs one, but they are heavy!
