    Hope I’m not the first to see a bolt cut down like this. I haven’t tried yet but what are your tips for removal?

    It’s not close to the distributor but is this grinded for an HEI?

    I'd grind off the entire head, remove manifold, then deal with the remaining stud.

    I would think so. Probably not that tight. Crescent?, Tack another bolt to it, cut a slot , etc

    Took off the PS pump and distributer cap. Vicegrips didn’t work so I sprayed more PB blaster and will work on it more tomorrow.

    A little trick I sometimes use to keep PB Blaster wet on the joint is to clean everything bone dry and RTV a short stand pipe around the piece of bolt. Once cured fill with PB Blaster. In this case a pipe elbow might work since the surface is vertical.

    Adding that you need some clearance between bolt and pipe so the RTV doesn't seal off what you are trying to wet.

    I agree that bolt was cut to allow clearance for Delco HEI distributor.

    Weld a nut to the head of the bolt. Remove with socket. The heat will help break the bolt free as well.

    I like the weld a nut method, but for a first try I would cut a portion of a gr5 bolt head of same size to fill a socket, and carefully fit it and try to unwind.

    This gives me another idea, just weld a “blob” to the missing side and then I have something to garb with my vicegrips.

    This was how I ended up doing it. The rest of the bolt unscrewed by finger once the manifold was off. Easy Peasy!!

    So next question: is the rear water port supposed to be blocked off?

    Since the cylinder heads are not "handed" ( left/right), as the heads are installed, the rearward water ports are blanked off by the intake manifold. The intake manifold acts as the coolant crossover from side-to-side.

    Ok thanks. I took it apart to cure a possible air leak. How about putting it back together? What do I need to know? Light coat of sealant both sides of the gaskets, Get rubber parts straight and wrench it down??
