I was thinking about drilling the bottom of the oil filter canister on my F134 so I can put a drain on it to drain the used oil out. I found a canister that was drilled and was tapped for a 1/8 pipe tap. I would like to know if anyone else has done this and had any luck?

Some vehicles had the drain OEM. Ford 8N Tractor, maybe the military jeeps, IIRC

I just use a turkey baster or a bent spoon.

Yeah that is what I use. But my 51 Pontiac and 46 Chevrolet both have filter canisters with drains and they both use the same filter as the jeep.

That eBay post just hasn't the normal bottom that's the drain back to the timing chain, right? So you would drill and tap another hole?

My one jeep has a drain and the other doesnt. I dont use the drain anyways because it seems to just make a mess.

Instead I just suck the oil out, much easier and cleaner
