1964 CJ6. Are these markers stock? As opposed to the clear glass one?
    Thanks.

Welcome from Michigan. My 64 has the yellow lens, to my surprise, I thought yellow came out later than 64.

That is what I thought a 64 had, my Jeep body was replaced with a 71 by PO. I have since re-done the body, the 71 was falling apart.

Maybe narrow it down by vin or production date. My 65 was built in 64 with the bee hive amber light and no battery box cover.

Did the battery box and lights change at the same time?

'64 was a transition year for the Jeeps, probably due to Kaiser taking over from Willys ('63 was the last of Willys). Supposedly, for the '64 model year, the MKlV Tuxedo Park introduced the new body tub without the battery lid before it was made available to regular CJ5s. The amber plastic lenses appeared about this same time. Remember, the '64 model year began in Sept. '63. The regular CJ5s started consistently getting these updated parts around production dates in March/April of '64. Prior to these approximate dates, many Jeeps still came with clear glass lenses and battery lids on the cowl, though some late-'63 production regular CJ5s received these updates. There were other production changes in the '64 model year, such as axle ratios and T90's updating to the "C" series. Not all production changes happened at the same time, so some transition Jeeps could have both some early features while also having some of the newer updates.
These type running changes continued through the Kaiser-era Jeeps, with seat mounts/seat types, wiper type/location, windshield glass shape, grill/signal lights, gas tank location, dash layout, etc. as examples.
I have tried to narrow down when in '66 the snorkel blanking plate on the hood and top corner sockets on the rear disappeared.

Donny, Thanks for the great info!
So were axle ratios an option during this transition? This 64 has 4:27's (tags intact front and rear) seems like most cj's I have had are 5:38.

Donny, the 66 Donor Jeep I bought did not have the snorkel blank in the hood. I have a copy of the title from 7-25-79 and a State Title from 7-23-99. One says 66, the state Title says 67, any way the vin number is 8035A201938 if that helps you narrow it down any. Good luck

Welcome from Michigan, Fyrmn, the way I understand is if your Jeep came with 15" wheels it had 4:27 axels, my 64 Tux had 4:27 axels, if it came with 16" wheels it had 5:38 axels. I could be wrong, but that is what I have believe I saw on this forum. Good Luck

The 4:27 axle came with the change to the T90"C" version which had a little lower first gear. Your '64 CJ6 was the first year of the change. Since there were a lot fewer CJ6s as compared to 5s, I can only assume the changes I pionted out in post #12 happened about the same time. I like the 4.27 ratio for all-around use, and you don't really need the overdrive option to drive on the highway.
Rick, Thanks for the data point on the snorkel blanking plate. I'm out of town right now, so can't check my notes. I have a '66 WITH a plate on the hood, and Cary has a '66 WITHOUT the plate, and were are pretty close on our serial numbers. Do you know if your donor Jeep had the rear corner socket bows?

Yes, this all makes sense. Mine 64 with the clear glass lenses is 57548163256 - likely production earlier in 64. It has a T-90c with 5.38 gears. As this was a transition year, Jeep may have done some mixing and matching. Mine has the battery box, hood cut out and rear corner socket bows.
