Read your post and did some searching on the web. It is possible that your new condenser is bad. Does your ignition system include a ballast resistor? If so, then you might want to check to see if it is bad. Like others have stated and if you haven't already done so, check all wire connections and connecting points to eliminate any loose/bad connections.

if you should decide to dive further into the distributor itself, before you get a replacement/aftermarket unit you should consider getting yours rebuilt. Look for a local auto/truck electrical place and see if they do generators, alternators and distributors. OR, contact John at Midwest Military. He rebuilt mine for my CJ5 (and for my M38 when I had it). He's a great guy and will shoot straight with you.

Not having the voltage reducing ballast resistor on the coil.

Or possibly a bad condensor, although I've never experienced that in 50 years.

Bad condenser can burn up points in short order. Try to re-install your original, and file the burned points to clean them up. -Donny

And it should be marked as to whether or not an external resistor is required....at least they normally are anyway.

No resistor on this coil, it's a msd blaster coil, ment for magnetic trigger ign,
Ran less than 5 min? That's why green.
I got the dist all assembled, points set on .020,After filling, an reinstalled .
I then hooked back up the msd, before I started it, points only act as a ground trigger,
Not much current flowing through the points.
It RUNS,it REVS, it's ok now.set timing bout 8-10 btdc, test drove,
    All is well!
The original coil that went bad, had the internal resistor, the replacement
I used had no resistor, that's where the green came from.
    Thanks all.

im bout ready to buy a distributor?
ant sure that's the problem though?
im looking at the key switch next?
    points green again?
do I need a resister in the coil when running msd?, I don't think so?

Shows you still need the ballast resistor.

There has been an epidemic of bad condensers right out of the box (and otherwise quickly failing) lately. If you have one out of a running vehicle you could swap in to test, I'd try it.

Ok it runs again, no tack but runs on the points, not the msd box.
New internal resister coil, msd unhooked, just like stock!
Parts store clerk, old racing bud from way back conformed that the msd, fired by points, still needs a resister!
I'll try to hook msd and tack back up tomorrow, think tack was maby wired on wrong?
I'll dig up instructions and rewire!
    Happy it's running again?
Need this finished so I can get back to 3.7!
    Thanks all!

Dug out the instructions that came with the electronic ign.
With all the trouble I've had, wanted to confirm wiring correct?
Wellllll, I might have found the problem.
Their are 2 red wires on this harness, almost identical, and I had reversed them.
1 straight to battery or positive side of solonoid, and 1 (the slightly smaller),
    To a switched 12v source .
With them reversed, power was on the points with the key in off position,
causing the points to glaze over during the time it was off, before I tried to
start it the next day. It is now wired correct.
Drove to store and back and couple hours on farm.
Next time not so much brandy while wiring ? LOL
