Can the pump rotate in the bracket so it's more straight up and down? Maybe a couple new holes in the bracket? That might help.

Here's the back of my bracket. It has a long slotted hole for tilting the pump. Just trying to come up with ideas to gain you more clearance, I'm don't want to see you have to massage your inner fender.

This is what I was working on when I modified the other bracket I had. I was close, with a few round stand-offs mode from some galvanized pipe I had lying around. Now I'm looking at the old smog pump and will have to dig out the fender and bolt it up to see how I can clearance it in the most effective way (no 3lb kinetic adjustments).

I think this is the tightest bracket that moves the pump inward away from the fender...........can't be used for front dump exhaust manifolds........but rear dump and headers should be no problem.

Looks like either one of these..........

Thanks Terry. These are the best picks i have seen so far. May be my buddy will let me scavenge his off his skylark.

Seems it should fit since the air pump sat roughly in the same spot. Going to looksee at the brackets on that smog turd later may be today to see what is similar (still dealing with pop and doc-n-box facilities)...

Also will help to stick the fenders on so i can see how level the tub is not.

Just want to say your bumper straightening procedure (Page 3, genius!) is a top-notch garage 'hack'. All this time I thought the only remedy was a new one.
I would have never found your technique because you misspelled "straighten" and it would never show up in a search :rofl::rofl:

    Now to find two BFH's...

I got my bracket off a mid to late 70's (78 I think) Chevy El Camino with a V6. The bracket also held the smog pump but I cut that off. The back of my bracket looks almost identical to the one Tarry posted. It was easy to mod mine to work. That should give people some more options if they are looking.

Welded a top on it and it was done. Simple

Hmm interesting that your power steering reservoir is sitting so low. It looks identical to mine but the steering reservoir sits down real low.

Can you flip the brackets? If I could get you a template of my brackets in say October would that help? It appears you have the same aluminum mount as my Jeep, just different brackets.

Please, when you get a few.

Bought two different yet similar brackets off a buick 350 from 69-71 ish (according to the sellers anyway). Terry’s photos help some. I modified one bracket to work w/o the cast aluminum, needs fine tuning but life has stepped in my way at the moment and i am fiddling smaller stuff when i get a few minutes here and there.

Give me a shout if you hit Chico.

Sick as a dog today. Putzed around the garage a little. Irritating, Green goo in the bleary eyed morning, and not a sneeze, peep or cough all day. And this evening, it's haacckkk.

Went out today and played with the Acetylene torch to cut some 3/16 plate just to dink around. Had a bolt hole to make. It worked.. Then I used the side grinder and cut-off wheels to cut the front bumper for the jeep out of 2x4 1/4"... one side had been CAD laser cut and was perfect. My cut with the side grinder, well, it worked. Once I'm done, some zap with the mig and a touch with the flap wheel, and no one will notice.

May be tomorrow I'll have the gumption to cut the holes in the bumper for the 1in thick bar that I'll turn into the mounts for the tow bar and the pull points.

Going to finally lower the #$%$ fuel tank so that the sending unit clears the tub bottom. Moving forward.

    still fighting the creeping crud.

three cutoff wheels today and I was able to make a piece of 1in x 3in flat bar into pull points for the front bumper. One end had been previously radiused with a laser CAD cutter. Found it in the scrap heap at the local steel place a while back. Made a great template to work with (c-clamp to hold pieces together, whittle things down to match).

Saved me from 2x time using dykem blue and a compass to make the first, and then using that as a template... whew. Would have been cheaper, yes, to buy the dang things online pre-fab'd... but time is free some days and cutoff wheels for the angle grinder are cheap.

drilled a hole in each into the end to 1/2 inch currently for the shackle pins (will probably go a little bigger). Side detour to sharpen my 'vintage' "Chicago Latrobe" 1/2 inch drill bit. Forgot, you really can't / impossible to sharpen a drill bit using a mill file

Drilled that last 1/16in of the hole out like butta when I was done.

With my rudimentary tools and measuring sticks, I clacked some rocks together, painted on the cave walls and rubbed some sticks together to make fire...

the result was not too bad.

tomorrow I will make the smaller mounts for the tow bar out of 1/2 stock and see how to get them fitted on there and lower the gas tank about an inch.

A little more tinkering today with 'sidebar' project of the towbar.

Will edit with comments after a bit.

Took the rectangle tube aand turned it sideways on the end of the tow bar.

Repurposed the mounts i made the other day. Grinder is my friend.

A couple tack welds to see if it will work. Yes it will.

Welded the brackets fast to the mounts.

I thought that i wiuld add a little reinforcement

I think it looks pretty good.

Right at 2 in wide. Dunno if i can find a clevis this wide in half inch pin. Later. Now to find the right bolts.

Dane............If it was me I would consider taking that little strut out and box that corner in with a much more substantial gusset.....
