    Can anyone tell me how

1- the fuel sender wire was originally routed from the tank to the guage
2- how the tail light wires were routed to the rear
3- Any photos on how the wires hook up to the junction block on the fender for the front lights

I managed to get the cluster wired and everything works but the fuel guage.

Is there a way to test it
The way it's wired is one wire from sender to guage and wire from guage to hot.

    Answer to question;
1- wire is run behind dash then through a hole in the cowl support, under the lip of the body. Then tucks out over to the sender, just laying on the tank.
2- inside the frame rail, left light wires poke out a hole in the frame. Across the frame the out of a hole in the right rail.
3- mine are mess, I’ll let someone else tackle this one.

When I redone my Jeep I used Trailer wire, that way you know by the color where it is going. Green is right stop light, yellow is left stop light, brown is tail lights, and white is ground. Same for the front turn signals. Good luck

    John,

Found this picture online. Colors might not match what you have. Hopefully it helps.

    1. On my 65 and 67 the fuel sender wire came from the tank over to the street side of the body. Then it went toward the front under the lip of the door frame through a hole, and then up under the dash via the body support next to the JEEP on the cowl.

    2. On my 65, 67 and 70 the wiring is attached inside the the bottom of the frame rail on the street side all the way to the back. Then it goes over the rail to the LR corner of the body . Then it splits to each side. There is a ground connection on the rear cross member .

[Edit] Not 100% sure on the rear ground connection. That may have been just on the 65 for the tailgate mounted license plate lamp.

You can see the wiring under the street side door opening on this photo. I also ran an external ground to my under seat tank just to make sure .

    To all,

Thanks for this timely information on wiring. I am currently rewiring the 56 CJ 5. I am using a trailer wiring kit (25 feet of each colored wire) from the sacred store (HF) for the light wiring. The wiring diagram I did not have and it will help a great deal for me.

    Again, thank you,

    Zootin

So right now with all the lights wired only issue I have is when headlight switch is pulled all the way out the front parking lights go off. Is this normal ? Bad switch maybe ?
