I posted an add on CL for jeep seats. I'm looking for a set for my 62. I got an email from a guy who has several sets from a jeepster that fit 66-71.
He wants 200 for them, said they are in great shape. Will the fit with minimal mounting fabrication on my end?

Pretty sure they are the same as the CJ molded buckets from the same era, except likely different fabric pattern.

You do have the brackets? IIRC with the earlier seats the brackets are integral to the seats. Jeepster brackets will be quite different from CJ.

That said, they should bolt-on to the late-60s style tubular seat mounts. I'm not sure what year Jeep switched from the flat-cushion buckets to the molded bucket seats. Fitment for the molded buckets should all be the same. The driver's seat is supposed to be adjustable, with sliders. Passenger seat is fixed.

Do you have the tubular seat support brackets for the molded bucket seats?

Kaiser switched to molded foam seats for the '66 model year. The passenger seat frame also changed at this point to a front horizontal bar that mounts to the door opening in the same way the drivers side mounts. The passenger seat previous to this change had an integral frame with two short curved extensions that ended with pivot pins which hinged on two separate castings which bolt on the top of the tool box. The '66-up seat frame has integral hinge tabs along the front tube that pivot on the mounting bar.
The drivers side was similar pre and post '66, except the mounts changed. The Willys seat often had no adjustment other than 3 sets of mounting holes. With the takeover of Kaiser in '64, most CJs drivers side seats had a sliding track that bolted on between the actual seat and the mounting bar. There were several variations of these tracks.
In answer to Jeepstar's question, if he has the original drivers side mounting bar and rear mounting brackets, the Jeepster foam seat should be easily adaptable, though the bolt pattern is likely different.
The passenger side mounts are entirely different, and Jeepstar will likely need to source the whole frame from a '66-up seat frame to try to adapt the Jeepster seat onto.

Try and talk him down. I paid $35 for my set...I had to slightly modify the mounting setup.

I do have the frames and the original seats.

yeah...he sent me some pics, they are beat up, springs are probably shot, etc. for 260 bucks I can get a brand new set of smittybuilt seats. sometimes you have to weigh the pros and cons of new vs. used.

I will talk to him a bit, but he seems pretty firm via our texts. I have to drive 150 miles to get them, so 300 miles round trip. I was hoping for something closer.

If you want the original style be prepared to wait a while & having to ship them, which is generally absurdly expensive.

Of course with the smiities you'll need to source or build the mounts anyhow.

Love my smitty lowbacks. But mount them as low as you can, the butt cushions are thick.

I second the love of Smittybilts. They are cheap but comfy, even on long rides. I had bestop seats in a previous Jeep and they were not cushy for us fatter folks. I always felt the framework inside them.
