Has anyone successfully used a reproduction speedometer head for a 67? If so, what brand is it and/or where did you get it? I bought one that won’t fit in any way. Thanks.

Tell us which one you bought so we won't make the same mistake.

I don’t know which one I bought. It was on eBay a while ago. After I bought it and looked at replacing it, seemed to be too much work. So I bought another used head, my second. Then I blew it up so I’m back to needing another one. Just looking for experience with something that works. I really wanted to keep the car as close to original but need something to work. I guess I can buy the whole assembly. Thanks!

Personally I'd go with a good-used or NOS original.

Try a 'want' ad on this site.

What do you mean by speedometer head? It sounds like you aren't talking about the whole cluster to me. Replacing the whole thing as others have recommended would be best it seems though.

I just bought the NOS one like the above post last week, should be here the coming week. (I also bought a Omi-Ada over a year ago but never used it so can not comment. Looks nice...)

The head I’m referring to is just the speedometer. I’m referring to the assembly or cluster to include the othe gauges, housing, lenses and case.

I bought one of the NOS speedos from the eBay seller in Vietnam, Bluemoonscooter. It arrived quickly (some of the items he stocks ship from California, rather than Vietnam) and in great shape. It is 12 volt, and is a perfect match for the original speedo / gauge cluster in my '67.

I read a story on another forum about this guy. The speedometers he's selling were apparently also used in some Vietnam-war era military vehicles. Evidently he acquired some ex-U.S. Army warehouses in Vietnam which still had many NOS vehicle parts in them, including some jeep parts.

I'd definitely buy from him again...and if I were you, I'd get the NOS while the gettin's good!

Here it is, the NOS speedometer off eBay from bluemoonscooter. $200 USD plus shipping. Wow, I'm very happy! Just have to finish painting the new dash from Walck's and do the dash swap.

I too bought one from him. I don't think he is actually in Vietnam but I emailed back and forth and the story he told me was when he was in Vietnam for some job, he bought a bunch of old jeep parts and is now selling them. The one I bought has worked fine so far for a 1,000 miles. I bought a second one for future backup while they are still available. He apparently has quite a few of these but at some point they won't be available and I believe they are truly the best approach. From what I've read, the others are just simply junk.
