Rode the wheels off the 3B.
Took a few days off work just to ride my Jeep. Took the 3B to northern Va. on Sunday and rode everyday. Came home today. Ended the trip with just over 600 mi. on the odo.
Rode mostly forest ser. roads and of course back roads to get to them. Had to ride some main roads to find more places to ride. I rode in Bath, Augusta, Highland, Rockbridge, & Allegany counties. Only failure , was hard to troubleshoot, was an ignition coil. Darn thing quit in the road. Eventually a neighbor to this spot in the road came out to help, and we determined the fire was starting out fairly strong but in a few seconds was fading out to almost nothing. Most of the time it would crank and idle, but if I tried to give it some gas, it would die. After a few phone calls, He had another neighbor who had an old coil laying around his garage, so he went and got it for me. The green B cranked rite up and ran. That is one kind of spare that I didn't have with me, but you can bet I will have a spare in the future. Was a new NAPA part probably less than 5k mi. ago.
The good part is I met a really nice fella in the process, real neighborly kind of guy. I really appreciated his help, and told him so several times, and paid him what little he would take for his time and trouble. There are still many good people in this country. Thanks Barry!

With the 60 hour a week work schedule I have this time of year Sundays are about the only time I get to work on the project as its just to hot when I get home from a day of paving to work in the shop. But yesterday I went by Harbor Frieght on the way home and picked up a bunch of disposable supplies like hook and loop sand paper for my little 2" D air sander and using a Punch I made from 2" exhaust pipe I cut out 72 pads (I get 8 pads out of a 6" D pad) I'll burn through most of them Sunday when I hopefully finish stripping my front Fenders and get ready to weld in the repair panels for the inner fenders.

Ever try naval jelly? Seems to me like it saves sandpaper/wirewheels, but I've never done the math.

I did the Advanced Adapter chain clutch linkage conversation. A well thought out design. Easy to do, smoother operation but I was hoping for a little less effort pushing the pedel. My left knee is wearing out.

    Busy week for the Jeep.

Fixed the charging. Found out that my weird alternator is a Delco DN20. It supposedly is rated at 55A, and was stock for heavy trucks. Since it now works well enough, It is staying.

I don't know if my connecting the regulator terminal #1 (yellow wire) to the coil + (through resistor), or some one previous blew the regulator. I found it on the starter solenoid control post, which in hindsight could make some sense. Anyhow, on a whim, I connected my DMM, and it read 18V at the battery. I now have it down to 14V.

But I repaired the regulator, and run the yellow wire through the dash indicator grey wire, with a 19 ohm resistor in parallel with the lamp. I did not dig through my stuff enough for the called for 10 ohm; 19 seems to work.

Also found what that piece of red steel was for. I originally thought it was for something else, but found its way in the pile of Jeep steel. I thought about it and found it to try. Now to look for some suitable bolts for it.

I got the new steel brake lines and new master cylinder installed, but now need to replace the rubber lines, as they have seemed to become constricted/plugged.

I managed to get the two pistons back into the 69 Dauntless (without a ring compressor). Whilst checking the other rods' torques while apart, I discovered number one had a improper torque on one nut! One was dead nuts, one maybe at 20. Good thing I checked. Most of the day was spent wire wheeling the block until I saw shiny. Saturday I found some Alpine Green 500 degree engine paint at the local discount-buyout store for 1.69 a can! Looked close enough for Dauntless coloring to me. There were 5 cans left, so I grabbed them all!

Converted the 3B to Pertronix ignition and Flamethrower coil. Anybody using different plug gap, or timing because of electronic ign.?

Thinking of that for the 66. Keep us updated as to how it holds up.

Whenever I upgraded cars with V-8s to HEI ignition, I'd up the gap on the plugs from .035 to .050 and add whatever timing advance I could get away with for strong running and smooth idle, while still being able to crank over when hot.
Never tried on Jeep engine, but just by it's nature electronic should be able to jump a bigger gap.

Moved some wood with the B after checking fluids and adding a gallon of gear lube to the axles and t-case.

Yeah, know the feeling! Drove Peppy out to the storage one Sunday and on the backroad off the highway the transmission sounded like loose marbles. I racked it and found the tranny oil was about gone! On the plus side though, the diffs and transfer case were all good levels.

It's super-dry pine, and it only had to go about 100yds. I've had way more weight on that trailer than that.:D

It was too big to fit on that trail and would've dragged butt on the way back out.

It's a wood day. I'm out running the splitter all afternoon here. All hard Maple that was too knotty to pound by hand. I guess since this is supposed to be a Jeep related post, I installed a marine 12v socket on Farm Jeep Willy. I also found a nice round 1980s Chevy shift knob in the junkyard which I installed in place of the mushroom style one. I like a round shift knob, plus this one is bigger and fits my hand better.
